By Dennis Römgens 💪🏻 Mercedes goes Megawatt Charging - This is not just charging speed it is pure charging POWER ⚡️ We can finally talk about and it is more than impressive. Alongside more than 20 (!!!) other records the Concept AMG GT XX recently achieved an astonishing charging power of 1041kW in Nardo. One key to success is the revolutionary charging infrastructure made possible by Mercedes-Benz AG & Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG in collaboration with Alpitronic. At the heart of this charging infrastructure was a specially developed prototype charging station combining the best of two technologies: An MCS charging station originally designed for trucks was converted into a system that works with a slim CCS cable, while safely transmitting the immense current. For the ones, that love the details: - This incredibly high charging power was available immediately, with the megawatt mark reached just 0.5 seconds after start of charging. - At the charging station, thetechnology programme demonstrated its outstanding endurance yet again. The CONCEPT AMG GT XX was able to maintain the 1,000 kW charging power for around two-and-a-half minutes. - Up to 1,176 amperes of current flowed via the specially developed CCS charging cable. - The system transmitted 17.3 kWh in just one minute, which is the equivalent of 125 kilometres of range (WLTP1). This charging record underscores how determined the Mercedes-Benz Charging Unit, Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Alpitronic are in their quest to push technical boundaries together Or in other words: BYE BYE Charging & Range Anxiety 👋🏻

MG set to launch 13 new EVs globally with $1.4B investment ⬇ The SAIC Motor-owned MG brand is gearing up to introduce 13 new EVs worldwide over the next two years, backed by a substantial investment of 10B yuan (approximately $1.4B). This move aims to diversify their offerings with BEVs, EREVs and PHEVs. → MG has seen significant success in Europe, selling 153,100 units in H1 2025, but its performance in China has been less impressive, with only 57,254 units delivered from January to July 2025. The brand's previous reliance on petrol vehicles has limited its appeal in a rapidly evolving market, prompting this strategic pivot towards new energy vehicles. → General manager Chen Cui emphasized that the NEV initiative is not merely about competitive pricing but leveraging the advanced technologies and supply chains of parent company SAIC. This includes collaborations with major players like Audi and Huawei, which will enhance MG's technological capabilities. → The first model to embody this new direction is the MG4 electric hatchback, which began presales in China on August 5, with an official launch set for August 29. The MG4 will feature a semi-solid state battery variant by year-end, showcasing the brand's commitment to innovation and connectivity solutions. #EV #NEV #MG #SAIC
