Making a difference! The State Library of Queensland team is delivering digital inclusion workshops so every Queenslander has opportunities to benefit from the digital economy through access to learning, entertainment, business, employment, and vital services. This week, the team were at Mornington Island’s new digital Indigenous Knowledge Centre. I am looking forward to the official opening later this month.
Mornington Island’s new Digital Indigenous Knowledge Centre (IKC) had a special visitor this week, ahead of its official opening later this month. The Hon David Crisafulli MP, Premier and Minister for Veterans dropped in to spend time with Mornington Island State School students who were taking part in a Digital Skills Workshop – part of State Library’s groundbreaking Digital and You program. Digital and You is a place-based initiative providing access to vital skills and technology tailored to each of Queensland’s First Nations communities, delivered through IKCs across Queensland. IKCs provide a place to access the internet, digital devices, technology support, along with a range of digital capability programs. The program is funded by the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business. #DigitalandYou #GrowingIKCs #DigitalQueensland Mornington Shire Council Local Government Association of Queensland North West Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils Michelle Carter
