Executive Vice President, Gas & Low Carbon Energy at bp

Gas is core to bp’s strategy and our plans to grow the upstream. And the importance of gas was on display at last week’s Gastech exhibition and conference in Milan, featuring over 7,000 delegates and 150 countries represented. The world's growing demand for energy was addressed through a number of engaging discussions, highlighting the critical role natural gas can play in delivering a credible, cost-effective pathway for emissions reduction while ensuring reliable supply. In support of this, I met with several energy ministers to discuss collaboration opportunities across oil and gas, including H.E. Hayyan Abdul Ghani Al-Sawad, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil for Iraq and H.E. Dr. Khalifa Abdulsadek, Minister of Oil and Gas for Libya. I also caught up with many of our partners and customers to see how we can find ways to create lasting mutual value and secure supply. And what's clear is that countries and companies know they can rely on bp to deliver. Our track record of delivery spans more than a century, and today we're integrated across the value chain and backed by our world-class trading organization. The week started with the signing of a memorandum of understanding to evaluate opportunities for a five-well programme in the Mediterranean Sea alongside H.E. Karim Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and H.E. Ashraf Swelam, Egyptian Ambassador. Elaine Skinner-Reid was joined at Gastech by Türkiye’s Energy Minister, Alparslan Bayraktar, to celebrate the signing of an exciting deal with state-owned gas company BOTAŞ that will see bp supply more than 3 million tonnes of LNG over three years. We look forward to building on our recent exploration and development momentum to safely bring on new resources and deliver value for our partners and our business.  My thanks to everyone who helped make the week a success!

Congratulations to the BP technical staff who preserverred Through the staff layoffs and direction changes by BP management over the last 7 years. Well done. However, the C suite leaders need to leave along with most of the board members. The senior leaders were part of the “flavor of the day” bp strategy changes and they are accountable for the value destruction to the shareholders.
