✨ Prompting is like ordering a sandwich ✨ Quite recently, I had a small discussion with my colleagues on prompting — and I felt like sharing it here too. Prompting is less like searching on Google and more like having a conversation. Why? Because we are social beings. We don’t just say elaborate; we say “Can you elaborate a bit more?” (see what I did there 👀). Here's the secret to getting a custom, delicious AI response: - Give Instructions. Stop telling a story and start giving an order. Tell the AI exactly what you want. - Set the Tone. AI is polite by default. Want it to be blunt? Add, "Be blunt." Trust me, it works wonders. - Use Rules. This is the secret ingredient. Think of it like ordering your sandwich: "No tomatoes 🍅," "No cilantro 🌿," "Less spicy 🌶️." The result? A delicious sandwich (pun intended) … or in this case, a customised AI response. 💡 For instructional designers, this mindset is gold: Just like we structure learning objectives and instructions for learners, we can structure prompts to get AI to design better, faster, and more aligned content.
