Another successful electrostatic application project completed at Asyad Drydock in Oman. PPG Nexeon™ 810 copper-free antifouling was recently applied to the VLCC SIDR, a 336-meter oil tanker operated by Bahri Ship Management. PPG introduced electrostatic application to the shipping industry two years ago, and has optimized its hull coatings for maximum performance. The application method offers a more sustainable way to apply coatings by improving transfer efficiency compared to airless spraying, helping to reduce overspray and waste and deliver a smooth, uniform finish. On August 14, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard launched the 16th 50,000 DWT MR product oil/chemical tanker for Seacon Shipping, marking the first project using the “Block Erection + Dock Assembly” method on Line 2. The vessel, part of the “Hongyun” series, features 53,500 m³ liquid cargo capacity and advanced cargo flexibility.
