100 new jobs coming to the Sunshine Coast

May 31, 2017. A new $20 million purpose built Langs Building Supplies store at Caloundra will create 100 new jobs. The store needs quality staff for a wide range of positions including clerical, storemen, sales, factory workers, truck drivers, forklift drivers and more.

Langs Building Supplies Sunshine Coast Site Manager Geoff Gordon said the new facility would replicate the operations of the company's existing facility at Yatala, which had been in operation since 1976.

"The new facility at Caloundra will include a drive-through trade store, bulk building supplies and on-site manufacturing of roof trusses, wall frames, floor trusses and aluminium windows and doors which will supply the Sunshine Coast's trades and building sector," Mr Gordon said.

"We're excited to be on the Sunshine Coast and it's all thanks to the support, communication and commitment of Sunshine Coast Council.

"The level of assistance and support provided by the council has been amazing and helped fast-track the establishment of our operations.”

Mayor Mark Jamieson said the new Langs facility represented a great opportunity to create more new jobs for the local community.

"I congratulate the Langs team on expanding their operations to the Sunshine Coast and taking advantage of our economy's growth and the benefits our region offers," Mayor Jamieson said.

"The business has a commitment to training and I believe they will be a great employer, staying true to their values as a long-standing family-run business.

"I wish Geoff and the Langs team all the very best for their future success and growth on the Coast.

Housing Industry Association Branch Manager Stuart Collins said the new operation was exciting for the Sunshine Coast and the construction industry.

"The Langs' investment is very welcome and will boost jobs and opportunities in the building supply chain, assist in ensuring building materials are available on demand and will contribute to making our industry more competitive," Mr Collins said.

"It's great to have a company with their reputation on the Sunshine Coast."

Langs Building Supplies has been in business for 40 years, currently operating from Yatala where about 250 staff are employed.

The Caloundra facility will initially open with 100 staff, with plans to grow the business to 250 staff in the future.

Langs will supply building materials to the fast-growing housing markets across the region including Aura (Caloundra South) and Harmony (Palmview) and will also transport products outside the region.

Langs Caloundra is expected to open by July and will be located at 85 Claude Boyd Parade, Bells Creek.
