2023: My Radical Sabbatical Year
An Invitation to Collaborate with Kate Liebelt
Happy holidays and best wishes in 2024!
Reflecting on 2023, I am grateful for the gifts YOU (yes, you!) have given me this year: your time, energy, wisdom, and “likes” and messages on LinkedIn.
In 2024 I plan to spend more time with leaders I admire and respect in healthcare, life sciences and technology leadership - so let's collaborate by co-authoring a paper, giving a presentation, starting a company, organizing an event, launching a podcast and more. Grab time with me on Calendly so we can brainstorm!

2023: My Radical Sabbatical Year
The term "radical sabbatical" also comes to mind when I think about 2023. This year I took a pause from the traditional corporate career path to pursue professional and personal passions. It never ceases to amaze me how doors open and mentors and collaborators appear when you are prepared to embrace new opportunities and lessons with positivity. Here are some of the projects and initiatives that fueled me this year:
CONSULTING
Became an Executive-in-Residence with Springboard Enterprises focused on women's health
Launched coaching collective Liebelt+Golin with Emily Golin, life and wellness coach
Joined boutique IT consulting firm Executive Consultants United as a Senior Leader
INVESTING & ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Became a Venture Capital Fellow with Material Change Institute
Made angel investments in women-owned companies with Pipeline Angels
Co-founded the Pause and Play travel series with Ja'Vonne Harley, CEO of Advantage International
Co-founded a women’s health start-up (stealth mode) with Sarah Qian, market builder and digital leader
WRITING & SPEAKING
Co-authored the 3rd book in the trusted health technology series led by Sherri Douville, CEO of Medigram
Started writing a book about a personal health journey with publisher Saleema Vellani
Spoke at the Becker’s Annual Health IT + Digital Health + Revenue Cycle Management Conference
Hosted Women’s Health Founders Forum events in San Francisco, Boston, Nashville, Las Vegas, Chicago
Taught a graduate-level healthcare innovation lab at University of Pennsylvania
In closing, this time of year I'm reminded of Ferris Bueller’s famous line:
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Take a moment this holiday season to marvel at the world around us, the beautiful and messy life you’ve designed for yourself, and the people, places, and things that inspire you.
Wishing you and your loved ones a safe, enjoyable holiday season!
With gratitude,
Schedule time with me on Calendly.
Your journey through 2023, amidst both personal loss and the pursuit of growth, truly reflects the depth of the human spirit. 🌿 Maya Angelou once said, "I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it." As you look forward to 2024, may your reflections bring you strength and clarity.
