3 Ways to Help Improve Employee Health & Wellness Engagement & Participation

Employee engagement is probably the biggest challenge faced when introducing a new health and wellness program into the workplace. For workplace health and wellness programs to be effective employee’s need to show up and engage. Simple, right? Well not always…….

To receive the best results for your company’s health and wellness program, you need to have a high participation rate of 75 % or more. Without employee participation, your health and wellness program isn’t going to accomplish your goals or improve the health and associated costs of your workforce. Here are my top three strategies to help improve participation and engagement among employees.

1. Convenience and ease of access

Convenience and ease of access is the biggest aspect of health and wellness program employee participation. The easier it is for employees to access and the more convenient for them to attend will result in a direct increase in participation. Allow them the work time to participate in the program. Give them the choice to participate. Ask for their feedback on what activities/education they feel would be of benefit to their health and well-being. Include them in the decision-making process. Engagement from the beginning will create a team player culture and drive their interest to be a part of the program.

. Location: onsite, in office.

. Date and time that suits the employee’s

. Effective communication on the activity schedule

. Custom designed to meet employee’s needs

Employee’s time is really important and there is simply none to waste. That’s why we come to you at a time that is suited to your schedule. We have an arranged agreement but also the flexibility when unforeseen work challenges arise at your end. We custom design health and wellness according to your restrictions and according to your needs.

2. Respect and confidentiality

Your employee’s health is private and confidential. When an individual is shown respect and sensitivity this helps engage the employee in honest, non-judgemental conversation. The employee can relax into the process with open and honest information which enables the provider to achieve optimal outcomes.

. Privacy/confidentiality

. No judgement

. Respect

We adhere to the confidentiality code of conduct for all our client’s. We respect each individual and work to promote the best outcome for each person through respect and privacy.

3.Provide personalized education and information

The Internet is full of health information. Employees don’t want more information; they want information that is personalized to them. They want expert, compassionate care with instant access to results and actionable plans for better health they can implement right away.

. Personalized

. Expert information/education

. Care and Empathy

We work with teams and individuals with the utmost care and consideration. Each employee is listened to. This is how we get the results.

Implementing these 3 strategies into your workplace will result in employee engagement and participation in your health and wellness programs. It is of paramount importance to keep the focus on employees and the potential benefits the program offers them. I always find that the best way to show employee’s just how advantageous the health and wellness program is, is to lead by example. As a manager, CEO or leader within the organization participating in the program lets the employees know that the program is valuable and that you care about your own health and well-being as well as investing in theirs.
