5 things the most successful referral getters ALL do
1) They build deeper relationships with fewer people
↳ They're always focused on new business from their top 2-5%
↳ They qualify hard to build power pipelines.
↳ Their top 15 want to spend time with them
2) They are unusually helpful and resourceful
↳ It seems obvious but most who think they’re helping don’t go deep enough
↳ They actively listen to identify impactful ways to help
↳ This is their identity, not a technique they read on LinkedIn (!!)
3) They ASK for introductions
↳ They’re willing to assert how they can help others
↳ They believe they deserve a seat at the table
↳ They genuinely want to help and people can sense this
4) They make specific asks
↳ They identify who the other person knows and likes who sounds like a good prospect
↳ They ask for 1-2 specific opportunities at a time
↳ They get no “let me think about it” because they implement the first bullet point
5) They never give up
↳ They keep in touch for 10 years if that’s what it takes
↳ They invite prospects to events, to be on panels or podcasts
↳ They have a deep-seated belief they can help so they play the Fickle Follow Up Game
Some of this might seem like a basic process.
But the basic processes always win.
And the best referral getters master a basic referral process.
