Addressing the Growing Production and Recovery Market
As demand for energy continues to grow, oil and gas will remain a critical part of the global energy mix moving forward.
By 2030, nearly 80% of oil production is expected to come from mature fields. Unlocking more from these assets is essential – and that’s why SLB is focused on delivering advanced production and recovery solutions and digital technologies that help operators maximize and extend the life of their existing assets.
With our recent acquisition of ChampionX, we are expanding our capabilities in this critical market to be a leading provider of production and recovery services to our customers.

WELCOMING CHAMPIONX TO THE SLB TEAM!
SLB recently completed its acquisition of ChampionX Corporation, strengthening its leadership in the production and recovery space.
The integration of ChampionX production chemicals and complementary artificial lift, digital and emissions technologies enhances the SLB portfolio, helping to drive performance and extend asset life along the production lifecycle.
Following SLB’s second-quarter earnings and the acquisition of ChampionX, CEO Olivier Le Peuch appeared on CNBC’s Power Lunch to discuss the resilience of the energy industry. Not only did Olivier comment on the outlook of the industry, but he took the opportunity to explain why the ChampionX acquisition strengthens SLB’s position in the growing production and recovery market.
Did you know that even after oil is brought to the surface through primary and secondary recovery methods, over 50% of it is still left underground?
That’s when enhanced oil recovery (EOR) enters the picture, enabling operators to access more from their assets to further increase recovery rates.
In this article, explore how advanced EOR techniques are transforming residual volumes of hydrocarbons in the reservoir into profitable, measurable production.
An ultrahigh-speed electric submersible pump (ESP) using an induction motor was successfully deployed in a deep, highly deviated well. The compact design made handling easier, cut rig time in half and still pushed out nearly 1,500 barrels per day. This deployment is opening the door to a new era of artificial lift, helping get more out of existing wells and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in oil recovery.
Read the full story to see how this technology is transforming challenging well environments.
I look forward to the impact we’ll drive together — leveraging innovation, scale, and digitalization to elevate performance for our customers, lower overall costs, and extend the life of their producing assets.
Maximizing recovery. Extending asset life. Lowering costs. These are the benefits of SLB’s strategic acquisition of ChampionX, says Abdellah Merad. By adding a world-class portfolio of production chemicals and artificial lift technologies, SLB is strengthening its impact in the production and recovery space by helping customers boost production performance and operate efficiently and continuously.
