Jared Ediger – Make It Easy
As an oncology nurse navigator, Jared is recognized with the 'Make It Easy' Service Standard Award due to his exceptional dedication and compassionate care for cancer patients. He excels in guiding patients and their families through the complexities of the cancer journey, building trust and advocating for their needs.
Jared is a crucial resource in outpatient and inpatient settings, readily responding to nurses' calls and visiting patients in need. One particularly impactful case involved a patient with a rare form of pancreatic cancer, who developed a lasting friendship with Jared over four years and referred to him as a "true blessing." Jared's commitment to helping patients navigate their diagnoses, treatments, and questions exemplifies his ability to "make it easy" for the oncology community.
AdventHealth ER & Urgent Care Southmoor - Own It
Several months ago, the team established two important goals: to ensure that patients experiencing chest pain received an EKG within 10 minutes of their arrival and to achieve a 98% Barcode Medication Administration rate. In June, they met the door-to-EKG goal only 50% of the time. However, after implementing educational initiatives and staff-driven solutions, such as adding radios for improved communication, they achieved a 100% door-to-EKG rate in October. Additionally, they successfully increased their barcode medication administration rate from the low 90s to an impressive 98%, making them the only emergency department in the AdventHealth Rocky Mountain Region to reach this milestone. This commitment to excellence has significantly enhanced patient safety and the overall quality of care. The team's collaborative spirit and dedication to improvement are truly commendable!
PreOp Team – Keep Me Safe
The pre-op team has demonstrated remarkable teamwork and resilience during significant growth, welcoming 20 new surgeons and additional staff members. During this accelerated growth, the team remained focused on their top priority: providing safe patient care. They have effectively empowered their nurses to take the initiative when necessary, ensuring patients receive the attention they deserve.
Implementing a team nursing approach, where nurses work in pairs to admit patients, has improved efficiency and reduced admission times. This collaboration has also helped staff manage stress better. Through these efforts, the pre-op team has strengthened their bond and enhanced their ability to provide quality care.
Their ability to maintain a culture of safety during challenging times highlights their determination to keep both the department and patients safe.
Surgical Oncology – Love Me
A team that exemplifies the service standard of "Love Me," is this team. They consistently share their hearts with their patients on this floor. There are countless stories of team members going above and beyond to provide exceptional care for their patients. They recently helped a husband-and-wife couple coordinate their discharge from the hospital so they could leave hand in hand.
Another patient, who spent four months in care, received support from the staff wearing his “support squad” shirt and enjoyed a special birthday celebration in his decorated room.
Patients frequently praise the team for their ability to connect beyond medical concerns, whether it’s through music or engaging with loved ones. Their dedication showcases their extraordinary commitment to compassionate care.
