👨🏼💻 Tech Corner

How can multiple AI agents work together seamlessly to solve complex tasks?

Agent Squad (formerly known as Multi-Agent Orchestrator) is an open-source framework developed by Amazon Web Services (AWS) Labs designed to manage and orchestrate multiple AI agents for handling complex conversations. It intelligently routes user queries to the most suitable agent based on context and content, maintaining coherent interactions across various agents.

Key Features:

  • Multi-Agent Orchestration: Coordinate and leverage multiple AI agents within a single system.
  • Intelligent Intent Classification: Dynamically route queries to the appropriate agent.
  • Dual Language Support: Implemented in both Python and TypeScript.
  • Flexible Agent Responses: Support for streaming and non-streaming responses.
  • Context Management: Maintain conversation context across agents.
  • Extensible Architecture: Easily integrate or customize agents.
  • Universal Deployment: Deployable on AWS Lambda, local environments, or other cloud platforms.
  • Pre-Built Agents and Classifiers: Includes ready-to-use agents and classifier implementations.

A notable component is the SupervisorAgent, which enables sophisticated coordination among specialized agents, implementing an "agent-as-tools" architecture.

💡 What This Means For B2B SaaS Vendors

The rise of AI agents isn’t a future trend - it’s reshaping the software landscape now. B2B SaaS vendors must adapt or risk irrelevance.

Here’s what this week’s developments show:

1. Build Agent-Native Capabilities, Not Just Integrations: StackOne’s funding and Amazon’s Kiro project make it clear: agents are becoming the new interface layer in SaaS. Vendors must move beyond basic integrations and reimagine their platforms as ecosystems that support autonomous agents natively - capable of initiating actions, learning from context, and collaborating with others.

2. Prioritize Interoperability as a Strategic Asset: With protocols like A2A, MCP, and ACP gaining traction, closed systems will be left behind. Embrace open standards early to ensure your solution can connect, collaborate, and operate in multi-agent environments. This will become a key differentiator as enterprises look for composable AI ecosystems.

3. Embed Security at the Protocol Level: New research highlights multi-agent security as a critical vulnerability. Vendors must treat agent security not as an add-on, but as core product design. Anticipate risks from rogue agent behavior, data leakage, or cross-agent manipulation - and architect safeguards from the start.

4. Prepare for a New Era of AI Operations: With ServiceNow’s AI Control Tower and the growing complexity of agent deployments, customers will expect visibility, governance, and control over agent behavior. SaaS vendors should begin offering built-in management layers, audit trails, and compliance tooling for AI agents as part of their value proposition. Or need to consider supporting tools like Control Tower and others.

5. Use AI Internally to Accelerate Product Development: Amazon’s Kiro and GenAI trends show that agentic tools are reshaping how software is built. Product and engineering teams should actively adopt GenAI to accelerate development, UX research, and iteration cycles. It’s not just about the product you sell - it’s how you build it.
