Introduction: A Personal Journey to the Digital Future

My fascination with technology's potential began with a simple problem. In 1983, while planning a backpacking trip across Europe with a friend, we were frustrated by inflexible, overpriced travel options. So, I built a basic program that generated personalized itineraries based on our budget and preferences. Although modest by today's standards, that project taught me that even basic technology can break down barriers and create new possibilities.

Today, I see platforms like Aadhaar, UPI, and ONDC transforming our digital landscape. These achievements have laid a strong foundation for innovation, and I firmly believe that AI can unlock even greater opportunities for India's entrepreneurs. Recent studies by NASSCOM and McKinsey project that AI could add billions to India's economy and create millions of jobs if we harness it responsibly. An EY India survey even suggests that adopting generative AI could significantly boost IT productivity in the coming years.

India's Digital Evolution and The Promise of AI

India’s digital public infrastructure has redefined how millions access services. Initiatives like Aadhaar streamline identity verification, UPI revolutionizes payments, and ONDC—the Open Network for Digital Commerce—opens digital commerce to small businesses. For example, Reliance Jio used Aadhaar-based eKYC to onboard around 170 million users in just six months—a process that traditional methods would have taken years to complete. This robust infrastructure empowers innovation.

Building on this foundation, imagine integrating Artificial Intelligence. AI isn't about replacing human effort—it’s about amplifying our capabilities.
