I used the deck above at the Westmarc Innovation Summit. For this summit, I was asked to speak to a community focused on embracing the future. The day presented an invaluable opportunity to communicate the mystery of GenAI to a business community not steeped in building AI-powered product experiences every day. I learned that there is a bridge from my every day to where every day in the larger border economy lives and breathes. My everyday day is a world of Retrieval Methods and Generative Models and the balance between them. My world is a world of query processing and doc retrieval. I operate on stages of product development that integrate context and use it in response generation. But all of that has no meaning to the construction company looking to optimize safety and accelerate the build time of a new business park. That has no meaning for account receivables teams in manufacturing houses trying to resolve dozens of orders and invoices in their brick-and-mortar supply chains. I found that talking about a few startups with AI-powered solutions to these complex problems was a simple bridge to shift mystery and skepticism to embrace a collaborative future between AI and the business folk of tomorrow.
