AI(ChatGPT) to replace an emergency doctor for a few minutes. WOW it did WELL

The AI world is abuzz with the ChatGPT, an innovative LLM (Large Language Model) recently developed by OpenAI. This advanced technology has generated a huge amount of excitement in the field of engineering, as it promises to be a game-changer for code generation, bug fixes, and human-computer interaction. But as a physician, I hardly saw any articles explore about ChatGPT’s capabilities in Medicine. So, I tried it in real life, and I’ll simply say I’m impressed beyond imagination. Follow me on this story.

I’m a consultant emergency physician. During my work in the emergency department, a lot of junior colleagues ask me for advice. So, i decided to replace ME with ChatGPT when a junior doctor discussed an ACTUAL dengue case with me.

wow, this is almost a perfect exam answer. but let's continue

This is awesome. ChatGPT manages to follow my thought process here. I would ask for more details to confirm my suspicion, advice for confirmatory tests, and decide whether the case is stable or not. well done. let's move forward.

This is exactly what I would do in my setting. I'm impressed more. Now my junior doctor has updated me with the latest findings. let's see how ChatGPT would do here

As an emergency physician, I felt ChatGPT managed to do really well in this case. Now I'm getting scared. This is too good to be true. My junior colleague was impressed. And he drops the BOMB.

Ok, AI can be politically correct not to scare doctors. but I'm getting nervous. I decided to probe more into what AI thinks of what he is doing.

Does AI can really THINK or is it that it's really good at learning from humans? Now I'm confused on top of being scared and worried. Does AI already sentient? How do we really measure?

As the last part, I ask AI itself how it is planning to change MEDICINE over the next few years.

and at least I'm happy now I'm working on point two at HeHealth. It's not about getting scared or panicking, Technology is here to help, and it will not replace our human empathy. and it will make us better physicians. Let me end this with a question I get asked by a lot of doctors.

Q. Do you think doctors will get replaced by AI?

A. NO, but doctors who adopt AI will do better and replace doctors who don't adopt AI.

Good sharing! I work with chatGPT to learn, manage my notes and other text based repetitive tasks. I think AI will revolutionize medicine just like how microscopes or MRI machines changed medicine - doctors will always be around and we evolve to more advanced roles with the help of AI. We have to remember an essential aspect of patient care is human connection and empathy. This is an area no AI can replace unless AIs become fully sentient and able to get into a real biological human body. But let's not get into that. AI ethicists are becoming busier than ever it seems.

I was made aware of ChatGPT sometime within the past 1 week and am a great fan! I've been exploring it with some work-related questions as well as with my study, and so far it's been performing quite well. It's my new best friend now 😁.

As humans we make decisions based on what we have seen and experienced. AI s do the same. I'm bit confused that what makes us different from ais other than the hardware part.
