Alberta PNP issues invitations to construction workers in latest draw

On July 25, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issued a new round of invitations to candidates for provincial nomination.

Candidates were selected based on their professional expertise and their ability to help address key labour shortages in Alberta’s economy.

In its latest draw, held on July 25, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issued 39 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

This round targeted candidates working in priority sectors, with a specific focus on the construction industry. All invited candidates had valid Express Entry profiles and were selected for their potential to help address Alberta’s ongoing labour shortages in critical occupations.

The latest draw under the Alberta Express Entry Stream, held on July 25, was exclusively limited to candidates whose primary occupation in their Express Entry profile falls under an eligible construction occupation.

For candidates invited based on an Alberta job offer, the job also had to be in a qualifying construction-related role.

To view the current list of eligible construction occupations, candidates are encouraged to visit Alberta’s official AAIP webpage.

Earlier this year, Alberta confirmed that in 2025 it would continue issuing invitations through its three main Express Entry Stream pathways, with a focus on attracting talent in priority sectors. These sectors currently include:

  • Construction
  • Agriculture
  • Aviation
  • Healthcare

The program continues to align its selection strategy with labour market needs across the province.

How many invitations and nominations are still to be issued through this stream?

Given that the AIIP has issued 269 invitations under the Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors stream, the following table presents the state of the pool alongside the remaining allocation:

For 2025, Alberta has a total of 4,875 nomination spaces under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).

As of August 1, the province has issued 3,134 nominations, leaving 1,741 spots remaining for the rest of the year.

Once a foreign national receives a provincial nomination through the AAIP, they become eligible to apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency.
