AmRam- Farm Stay for the discerning traveller.
Having a little piece of land in the countryside was a long term dream we held onto as partner goals. We had started to recognise how surrounding yourself with serenity does have a positive influence on our well-being and valued it deeply.
So, to see it come alive is a reminder that....
'No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small.
NOW
Here's a little backstory.
We had just got back from a vacation in Kenya and were welcomed by the news of the ‘Global Lockdown’, which lasted for a good 8 month period in 2020. While we stayed diligent about respecting protocols. As a family we recognised and noticed how we all hit a reset. We also saw this as Divine Guidance. As individuals it dawned on us we can’t take anything for granted, including our time here on Earth. This became a birthing period for an idea of setting up a home in a faraway land haha not so far away from Bangalore. A home we could come back to when we wanted to escape the hustle of a city life, the chaos of the cluttered mind.
After much deliberation we found merit in investing in a farmland in Shoolagiri, Sanctity Ferme, which is 72 Kms from MG, Road in Banaglore.
We gained possession of the land in 2023 and the vision to build something contemporary was key. Keeping the design simple and minimal was just as important. Which is when we found things coming to fruition in our collaboration with Nithin who enjoys experience and expertise in prefabricated structures that would turn into homes. They are durable, relocatable and energy efficient and it takes about 60 days to do the build. The time factor was a huge draw. While all of this caught our attention, I think as a couple- as a team we were so ready for an alternative to conventional building. The design makes these buildings earthquake resistant, leak proof and could withstand the conditions a conventional building would offer without compromising on aesthetics. YAY! Ahu…the team that helped us put this place together.
We didn’t want to go the traditional way, maybe the next time, but this instance it was all about how do we recreate a space that looked like a postcard of a mid-century home in our Desi world. We haven’t achieved perfection, not chasing it either but happy about making it accessible to guests who are keen on exploring a non-conventional path to living.
It might just inspire you to experiment. To do things differently-to reALIGN.
After all it’s one life, let’s live it well.
