AtScale is now, well... operating at scale!

AtScale is now, well... operating at scale!

OK, the guy in this picture isn't me.  It's our lead front end developer, James Lai, the guy behind AtScale's kick-ass virtual cube design experience.  I love this picture.  I snapped it when we just moved into our new offices, almost exactly one year ago today (it was on February 28th), and it reminds me of where we were roughly 365 days ago: we had an exciting new product, we were thrilled with our recent fundraising success, and we were ready to hit the ground running, getting ready to launch AtScale to the masses.

Well, fresh on the heels of last week's exciting BI-on-Hadoop Benchmark results, today we released an exciting summary of our 2015 results.  You can read all the details in the press release, but for me a few things stand out:

  • We signed up an amazing number of new customers in 2015, including leading enterprises in industries ranging from Health Insurance to Credit Cards to Direct Marketing to Online/Offline Retail.
  • We partnered with Tableau to deliver the industry’s first “BI on Hadoop” Accelerator.
  • Microsoft teamed up with us to offer Big Data analytics in the Cloud on HDInsight.
  • We've initiated work with Avanade, a firm that has one of the largest Business Intelligence practices in the industry with more than 25,000 professionals in 70 locations and 22 countries.
  • Our Hadoop Maturity Survey (in partnership with Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR and Tableau) was the largest ever of its kind. The survey revealed that more than three quarters of respondents said they planned to do more with Hadoop in the next three months.
  • We earned awards for “Coolest Big Data Startup”, “Top Emerging Vendor You Need to Know” as well as “Top Enterprise Startup to bet your career on in 2016”.
  • Our Series A funding was led by UMC Capital, with participation from AME Ventures as well as Storm Ventures and XSeed Capital. Investors include Amr Awadallah (Cloudera’s co-founder) and Jerry Yang (Yahoo! co-founder). Advisors include Mike Franklin, Director at the AMPLab, credited for many industry-changing open source software such as Spark.

Overall 2015 as a FANTASTIC year, and I am excited to keep the momentum going in 2016.  Maybe we will even get a new picture of James in a new office!
