Automated QA, Algebras, Cell Locking, Gamescom 2025 and More
What’s worse than finding a bug in production?
Not finding it all.
Whether you’re managing new software releases or game updates, small things can slip through: a broken tag, a double space, an untranslated string, or a forbidden term are the usual suspects.
No matter how much you adore your product, no one loves combing through endless text line by line. That’s where automated QA saves the day: your tireless second pair of eyes that never misses a typo or variable.
If you’ve been thinking about tightening your QA loop, maybe now’s the time to try something new. Imagine shipping updates without the dread of “what did we miss this time?”
Boosted QA checks
The QA function helps you detect localization issues effortlessly. All you need to do is set up QA rules under Localization Settings, against which translations will be checked, and then click a button to run the automated check in the CAT editor for a given translation task.
QA rules for inside-segment checking
Updated QA rules now allow you to detect unpaired quotation marks and brackets of various types, numeric and alphanumeric mismatches, and inconsistencies in URLs and email addresses. Explore the full list of QA rules.
Severity settings for detected issues
To help you navigate results easily and focus on what’s important, use the new Severity settings under the QA settings. Here, you can specify what should be treated as an error and what should only trigger a warning.
QA report for translation jobs
The newly released QA report gives you a quick overview of when the QA check was run and how many issues were detected in each language of a translation job. You can dive deeper into the types of issues identified and quickly jump into the respective task to fix them.
Finally, to ensure nothing slips through, configure permissions so that certain people can deliver jobs back to your Grids only when the QA report doesn’t contain any errors. Check out the new task management permission for project roles under your Company settings.
New AI-translation engine: Algebras
Accuracy, fluency, and cultural awareness are the key strengths of Algebras, a rising star among AI translation engines, now available in Gridly.
Thanks to its intelligent routing feature, which dynamically selects the most suitable translation model for each language pair and content type, Algebras delivers translations in over 300 languages and 1,000 dialects, often requiring little to no proofreading.
You can run Algebras using the new automation action or by selecting it in the Pre-translation Wizard. It’s also available in the CAT editor under the Machine Translation section.
Gamescom, here we come!

Cell locking to replace ‘Locked’ Source status
To prevent content from being updated when it shouldn’t be, you can now easily lock any cell (or any selection of cells) in your Grid using the new lock function available in the cell context menu.
A locked cell can’t be updated through the user interface, automation, import or API. Only its metadata can change, such as its status, background color, or maximum allowed length.
This new cell locking feature replaces the source status called ‘Locked’. This status will be removed on July 31, 2025. All cells with this status will automatically be switched to ‘Ready for translation’ and will remain locked, but using the new feature instead.
Moreover, to review content quickly without accidentally changing anything, you can now easily lock not just individual cells or columns, but an entire view. The read-only mode lets you make all cells uneditable with a single click. You can find it in the toolbar, next to the view selector.
Gridly is now a DeepL partner
We’re happy to announce that Gridly is now an official DeepL partner! Plus, with the new centralized API key management, connecting to DeepL has become even easier.
Under Integration settings, you can now manage all your DeepL API keys in one place. When creating a DeepL automation action, simply select the API key you want and all your integration settings will be applied.
