Awakening Within US
All the articles, posts, announcements, etc. regarding the Coronavirus kept me company throughout the night until finally, at 3:30 this morning I couldn't stand their nagging anymore. I dragged myself out of bed, threw on the random collection of clothes carelessly strewn on the floor, dressed, and went for a walk in the dark with my dog Dexter. Together we pondered our current state of affairs here at home and around the world-perhaps me more than him, but he did wag his tale with each comment I made. During that time, I festered about how this is and will continue to hurt our economy, how isolation, while necessary, will impact relationships as loneliness is already on the rise. I grappled with how we are skillfully feeding our fears and frustration tied to this event. But, we are rarely focusing on how this is and can continue to fuel our resourcefulness and resiliency.
Antoine de Saint-Exuper, a French writer and poet, once said, "A single event can awaken within us a stranger totally unknown to us. To live is to be slowly born." What if this event is our "awakening" to what is waiting inside each of us to still be born?
The following video invites all of us to consider looking at this breakdown as perhaps our time to "take a chance" and create a breakthrough.
