Commerce Cloud
Types of Commerce Cloud
● Business to Business(B2B)
● Business to Consumers(B2C)
● Business to Business to Consumers(B2B2C)
About B2C Commerce Cloud:
A business selling their products directly to the customers this type of model is called B2C Commerce Cloud.
It revolutionizes the shopping experience for end customers by providing seamless engagement across multiple digital channels, offering a rich set of capabilities such as personalized shopping, AI-driven recommendations, and a smooth checkout process.
Note: Unlike B2B Commerce Cloud, B2C Commerce Cloud is not natively built on the Salesforce platform. It was originally a product called Demandware, which Salesforce later acquired and rebranded as B2C Commerce Cloud to enhance its e-commerce offerings.
For Example: A laptop manufacturing company sells its products directly to students or individual consumers through an online store, allowing them to browse products, compare specifications, and make purchases effortlessly.
Architecture of B2C Commerce Cloud
Salesforce provides a container called a Realm, which includes various components needed to run an online store.
For example, when you visit a website like Google.com, your request is sent to a server, which processes the request and returns a response. Similarly, a Realm consists of multiple servers that handle different functions:
● Application Server – Manages business logic and processes requests.
● Web Server – Handles website traffic and delivers web pages.
● Database Server – Stores and retrieves data for the storefront.
● Network & Storage – Ensures connectivity and efficient data management.
A Realm is divided into two groups:
1. Primary Instance Group (PIG) – Includes the main environments for development, testing, and running live storefronts.
2. Secondary Instance Group (SIG) – Contains sandbox environments used for development and testing.
This structure ensures smooth development, testing, and deployment of B2C Commerce sites.
Tools for Managing B2C Commerce
● Business Manager – Used to manage the storefront (add products, configure settings).
● Control Center – Used by IT teams to manage system operations.
● Account Manager – Used to manage user accounts & permissions.
