Become a Greenplum Expert with ChatGPT AI — Learning the Smart Way
I’ve designed a prompt for ChatGPT with a simple but ambitious goal: to teach you Greenplum in a structured, interactive way. The prompt sets the ground rules, defines the roadmap, and transforms the learning experience into something adaptive and engaging.
The framework works like this:
Simple lessons: Each session delivers a short, focused explanation of a key Greenplum concept.
Interactive checkpoints: After each lesson, ChatGPT asks whether you’re ready for a quiz or if you’d like more background context to strengthen your understanding.
Quizzes for reinforcement: Once you’re ready, the AI generates a multiple-choice quiz to check comprehension.
Adaptive reteaching: If you miss any questions, ChatGPT automatically explains the concept again in more detail, then retests you until the knowledge sticks.
This creates a closed feedback loop—learn, test, correct, and lock in knowledge—ensuring mastery before moving forward.
The real power lies in the prompt itself. It doesn’t just guide ChatGPT on how to teach; it defines a knowledge roadmap that structures the entire journey. That roadmap provides direction while allowing the AI to adapt dynamically to each learner’s needs.
As a 15-year veteran of Greenplum, I created this roadmap based on the fundamentals every practitioner must know. But when I tested it myself, I was surprised. I moved quickly through most of the material, but I uncovered gaps in my own expertise—particularly in areas of query planning, including:
Gather motions
Motion operators in general
APPEND nodes in query plans
This experience reminded me that even seasoned professionals benefit from a structured, adaptive learning model. It forced me to slow down, revisit those areas, and walk away with deeper clarity.
This methodology represents a shift in educational content development. Traditional learning models—long-form text or video—may be challenged by this new model with potential for enhanced productivity. What matters now is:
Crafting smart prompts that define the learning roadmap
Letting the AI handle the nuance, delivering context and explanations on demand, shifting the lesson dynamically
Enabling learners to discover and close their own knowledge gaps in real time
And here is the magic itself—the prompt. Copy, paste, and run this in ChatGPT to start your Greenplum learning journey :
After you copy paste the above prompt into ChatGPT, ChatGPT becomes your focused knowledge tutor, with access to the world's information, but organized with a mission and structure to help you learn as effectively as possible.
Actually i was shocked how effective this was when i tried it myself. I found my own weaknesses and was able to learn 3 or 4 complete new concepts in a 30 minute learning session. And that was on top of the fact i already know Greenplum fundamentals.
Make sure to take ChatGPT on some tangential journeys to fill your knowledge gaps. Ask for diversions and deep dives but always comeback to the structure to get to the end of the 15 lessons.
So give it a try yourself and let me know in the comments your feedback.

3wThis is great. I've been doing similar things for core concepts on multiple areas of enablement I've been working on. AI will definitely revolutionize focused enablement.

3wIvan D. Novick cool... curious if it will cover external web tables? Indexes, really? I just don't see that on a Grid🍻
