Before You Read My Next Post, Here’s Why I Started Writing in the First Place

Nine months ago, I wrote my first LinkedIn article.

Not because I had a strategy.

Not because I had a content calendar.

Not because I wanted to build a personal brand.

I started writing because I felt a nudge.

A quiet but persistent whisper I call a Holy Spirit Whisper.

I’ve always loved writing, but this wasn’t about doing something I enjoyed. It was something I needed to do. Even when I resisted, the whisper was still there, patiently waiting for me to say yes.

So I did.

And at first, I wrote about something I know well: marketing. I’ve spent my career helping businesses clarify who they are, what they offer, and how to connect with the people they’re meant to serve. That’s what I know. That’s where I started.

But then life happened.

My oldest daughter got married, and something in me shifted. The personal bled into the professional, and suddenly I wasn’t just writing about messaging strategies or ideal customer profiles. I was writing about love, resilience, reflection, and mindset.

And the whisper said, Keep going.

An Unexpected Prompt That Made Everything Clear

Recently, someone asked me, “Who are you writing for?” and “Why are you writing?”

I didn’t have a perfect answer. Not at first. Because I hadn’t really set out with a master plan.

But the question lingered.

And in true uncharted-life fashion, the answer came together slowly… through conversations with my children who are all in new business endeavors, through the messy joy of the day-to-day marketing work, and even through a book I almost didn’t read: You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero.

That book dared me to show up differently. To stop waiting until I had it all figured out. To stop hiding the best parts of what I’ve learned. To start giving it away.

And when I looked back at the puzzle pieces, they all clicked into place.

Who I’m Writing For

I’m writing for the scrappy entrepreneurs.

The ones who started with a passion, not a business plan.

The ones with vision and talent and a deep sense of purpose, but not always the roadmap.

The ones doing brave things with limited resources.

The ones building something they believe in but aren't sure how to talk about it yet.

The ones working three jobs so they can fund their dream.

I know them

because I was one.

And I’ve helped many just like them get their feet under them and grow.

Why I’m Writing

At one point, I struggled with writing a particular article. I found myself holding back because I didn’t want to “give away my secret sauce.”

But then I had this breakthrough:

The whole point is to give away the secret sauce.

If I’ve learned anything over the years, it’s this: entrepreneurs don’t need another vague marketing tip. They need someone to teach them how to find the soul of their business: what makes them different, what drives them, and how to communicate that clearly so it connects with the right people.

So that’s what I’ll be writing more about.

Because clarity is power.

Because marketing is not about fluff.

It’s about stories.

Because your story matters, and so does the way you tell it.

So before I publish my next piece about discovering the soul of your business or crafting a message that actually connects, I wanted to share this.

If you find anything in my articles helpful, I hope you’ll pass it along to someone else building something brave.

And if you’re in that scrappy, uncertain place, still figuring it out, I just want you to know:

You’re not alone.

I see you.

And I’m writing for you.
