The Biamp Difference
Biamp has been a leader in the installed AV market for a long time now with their range of Digital Signal Processors (DSP’s). Starting with the Biamp Audia range in the early 2000’s and now with the flagship Tesira range, which was initially launched in 2011 and is still available today. Biamp have introduced some major improvements in the latest Devio and TesiraFORTE X ranges, such as Biamp Launch and Biamp AI which I will be explaining below
TesiraFORTÉ X and Devio SCX Digital Signal Processors have won the Red Dot Design Award for Outstanding Product Design. The Red Dot Design Awards is one of the world’s largest and most renowned design competitions, with roughly 20,000 submissions from 60 countries for the 2022 awards.
Biamp Launch
From my previous experience as an AV integrator, Biamp was always the gold standard when a DSP was required in an installation, but because of its open architecture platform that makes it such a versatile and powerful piece of equipment, only experienced programmers could be trusted with setting these up optimally. Not anymore!!
Biamp Launch is an automated configuration of a conferencing room with Biamp connected devices. At the touch of a button the audio will be optimised to the room’s unique characteristics, whether large or small, in under 3 minutes. Launch eliminates risk and provides extraordinary audio performance every time. It’s so easy to setup, even someone with no experience in AV could do it.
By using advanced signal processing intelligence, it discovers connected devices, generates test tones to measure the rooms acoustics and adjusts the system tuning, to optimize the audio, thereby reducing commissioning time dramatically. It even provides a detailed report of the acoustic performance before and after, that you can make available to your customer.
Biamp Launch is the first non-hardware-based technology to be Microsoft Teams certified, making Biamp the only audio solution manufacturer on the market with Microsoft Teams certification for rooms larger than 35sqm. There are also a range of Devio and Tesira bundles featuring Launch, that are certified for Zoom Rooms.
Biamp AI
Another new feature in the latest range of Biamp products is Biamp AI which really needs to be seen and heard (or not heard) to be believed.
We recently hosted a Biamp Roadshow at our offices, and we had the pleasure of Joris Cornelissens, Biamp’s Regional Sales Manager for Europe and Africa as our guest speaker. During the demo of the new VBC 2500 videobar we were utterly amazed by the quality of the 4K ePTZ auto framing camera and the hugely impressive voice pickup from the 27 microphone array featured in this device, but the best was yet to come.
Biamp have created a vast library of unwanted noises prevalent in meeting rooms and office spaces and has built this into their latest offerings. If any of these sounds are present in a meeting space, it is completely filtered out by Biamp AI, and the far end participants will be oblivious to these sounds, even those annoying hadadas. Too bad it can only filter out these sounds for the far end participants.
We tested everyday sounds like typing on a keyboard and shuffling papers, to more extreme examples such as crinkling a plastic packet and tapping a pen against a glass and these sounds were completely absent to the far end participants, without affecting the intelligibility of the person who was speaking and making these sounds at the same time.
If you require any assistance with choosing the right Biamp products for your next project, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you soon
