A billion times zero is still zero.

There’s a simple equation that stops me in my tracks every time I think about it:

A billion times zero is still zero.

It doesn’t matter how high the number is. You can multiply it by the biggest figure your imagination can dream up, but when the foundation is zero… the result will always be zero.

Now, apply that truth to our lives:

• A billion dollars without peace is still poverty.
• A billion achievements without purpose is still emptiness.
• A billion connections without God is still disconnection.

We live in a world obsessed with accumulation; more money, more influence, more likes, more recognition. And yet, I’ve seen over and over again how more without meaning collapses into nothing.

Because when God isn’t in the equation, the foundation is zero.

The Illusion of “More”

I know this firsthand. There was a season in my life where I was climbing the corporate ladder, chasing the next title, the next salary bump, the next opportunity.

From the outside looking in, I had it all together.

But inside? Empty.

That’s when the whisper of God began to stir in my heart. I realized that I could keep multiplying, but as long as my foundation was built on the wrong thing, I’d only end up with more nothing.

Jesus put it plainly:

“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” — Matthew 16:26

It’s not that money or success is evil. Scripture tells us that wealth can be a blessing, and that diligent hands bring prosperity (Proverbs 10:4). But wealth without God is just numbers. It doesn’t multiply into peace, joy, or fulfillment.

Zero Without God, Infinity With Him

Here’s the good news: when God is the multiplier, the equation changes.

He takes the little we have and makes it much. He turns what looks like “not enough” into abundance.

Think about the five loaves and two fish in John 6. By human standards, that was nothing compared to the need in front of them. But in the hands of Jesus, it multiplied to feed thousands; with baskets left over.

That’s the math of heaven.

With God:

• Zero transforms into overflow.
• Scarcity becomes abundance.
• Weakness becomes strength.

Paul reminded us in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that God’s power is made perfect in weakness. What looks like zero in our hands is infinite in His.

Faith as the True Currency

If money, success, or recognition aren’t the true measure, what is? Faith.

Faith is the currency of heaven. It’s what connects us to the promises of God, what keeps us anchored in the storms, and what multiplies our work into eternal impact.

When you have faith:

• Every dollar you earn carries purpose.
• Every achievement points back to God’s glory.
• Every relationship becomes a divine assignment.

Faith changes the equation because it ensures you’re never multiplying by zero. You’re multiplying by the One who holds it all.

From Zero to Overflow

Maybe you’ve been feeling the weight of that “zero” in your life. Maybe you’ve been working harder than ever, and yet you still feel like something is missing. Or maybe you’ve achieved the the success, the status, the applause but deep down you know it’s not enough.
