Books, Catalysts for Transformation

Good morning, everyone! 📚✨

I love reading and exchanging ideas about books. Recently, a few events motivated me to start writing here about what I'm reading. My idea is to share how each book has added something new to my life quickly and directly. This is an invitation to read and converse. If you're interested, feel free to write to me – perhaps we'll exchange experiences and learnings!

The Events that Motivated Me:

"The Book that Changed My Life"

Last week, I came across this book organized by José Roberto de Castro Neves. It brings together a series of testimonies – some from well-known people i Brazil – who share their experiences with a book that changed their lives. In my case I have many.

The idea is fascinating. In general, I read books that can add new perspectives and learnings that "change my life" or at least adds to my worldview. This reminds me of an anecdote from Charlie Munger, who, when asked who he would like to have dinner with, responded that he had already "dined" with everyone he wanted to because he had read and understood their way of thinking.

More than reflecting on his answer, I want to highlight the message: with the right attitude, books have the power to transform our lives.

Summons to Alexandre de Moraes

In this space, I will not talk about politics. But the first book I intended to share (which will now be the second) is "Red Notice" by Bill Browder.

Alexandre de Moraes is a judge of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court, accused of practicing acts against human rights and political persecution. The American law that could harm him with jurisprudence in the United States is the Magnitsky Act, and the book narrates the motivation and the entire story and effort of Bill Browder and others to get it sanctioned. I will share more information about the book in the next article.

I believe it is an essential read for everyone, offering a profound and impactful view on justice and human rights.

My Daughter, the Reader

Last weekend, I went to the bookstore with my beloved Luisa, 10 years old, who asked to buy a book. We spent hours there, exploring the shelves. She loved the search, and in the end, we bought a book for her and one for me. This moment filled me with joy and inspired me even more to share my readings and experiences here.

Why is it important?

Each book I read adds a new layer of knowledge and perspective to my life. They are more than sources of information; they are catalysts for personal and professional transformation. Understanding the impact that reading can have is crucial to further valuing this habit. Books offer us new visions, challenge our beliefs, and inspire us to grow.

I hope that sharing these readings inspires you to explore new books and discover how they can positively impact your journey. Which books have transformed your life? Leave a comment below and let's exchange ideas!

----- I want to sincerely thank everyone for the private messages and comments/reacts regarding my initiative to share books that have impacted me. I am thrilled with the engagement and interest! I will strive to post in both Portuguese and English, highlighting books related to the topics of the posts and, with some frequency, articles about them. My goal is to encourage reading, which I believe is the passport to a better life.
