Building Toward Decentralized Cognition: ASI Chain Hackathons Kick Off in New York and Nairobi

Building Toward Decentralized Cognition: ASI Chain Hackathons Kick Off in New York and Nairobi

August marks a key moment for the Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) Alliance as we begin early access to select integrations from ASI Chain; our infrastructure layer for modular, autonomous AI systems. To support this rollout, we're launching two hackathons in partnership with organizations that have been instrumental in growing the decentralized AI movement:

Both events open the door to hands-on experimentation with the building blocks of decentralized cognition. This blog will provide you an overview of our developer relations activities set to take place this August. In the next week, we will also be sharing more resources and the hack packs for you to get started.

Build Autonomous AI Agents with the ASI Alliance

The ASI Alliance is developing ASI Chain; a shared substrate for decentralized AI coordination. This infrastructure is designed to support intelligent agents, symbolic reasoning, tokenized memory, and distributed cognition. While the ASI Chain itself is still in progress, builders can already explore key integrations that demonstrate its early shape and potential.

This is your opportunity to develop AI agents that don’t just execute code. They perceive, reason, and act across decentralized systems. The ASI Alliance brings together world-class infrastructure from Fetch.ai, SingularityNET, and Ocean Protocol to support the next generation of modular, autonomous AI systems.

Hosted at one of the most respected events in the Web3 ecosystem, and in partnership with Fetch.ai Innovation Lab, our ETHGlobal New York track invites developers to work with early integrations that reveal the architecture and design principles behind ASI Chain.

Fetch.ai Innovation Lab is excited to bring Artificial Superintelligence Alliance to ETHGlobal New York. We believe hackathons are where the next generation of decentralized innovation is born. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to empowering developers, accelerating real-world use cases, and making AI and Web3 more accessible.” — Sana Wajid, SVP @ Fetch.ai Innovation Lab

Use Fetch.ai’s uAgents framework or your preferred agentic stack to build agents that can interpret natural language, make decisions, and trigger real-world actions. Deploy them to Agentverse, the ASI-wide registry and orchestration layer where agents connect, collaborate, and self-organize.

Enhance your agents with structured knowledge from SingularityNET’s MeTTa Knowledge Graph, or ingest dynamic, real-world data using Ocean Protocol’s decentralized data tools. For agent discovery and human interaction, integrate the ASI:One interface to make your agents accessible through a unified, conversational AI layer.

Whether you're building in healthcare, logistics, finance, education, or DeAI-native applications, this is your launchpad. Develop agents that talk to each other. That learn and adapt. That drive real outcomes across sectors.

The future of decentralized AI isn’t siloed. It’s composable, cross-chain, and powered by the ASI Alliance.

Meanwhile in Kenya, ASI Chain’s foundational cognitive layer (MeTTa) takes center stage.

In collaboration with Wada and BeyondTheCode.ai, the Kenya MeTTa Hackathon will offer deep immersion into ASI Chain’s most ambitious capability: supporting decentralized cognitive architectures. This isn't Solidity. It's reasoning over patterns and logic graphs.

This is the cognitive core of the ecosystem. The logic engine that powers Hyperon and underpins ASI’s approach to decentralized Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

This event will serve as your entry point into the MeTTaCycle, a developer pathway led by Dr. Ben Goertzel and the core SingularityNET team to train the next generation of logic-first AGI builders.

In Nairobi, we take a deeper dive into symbolic reasoning and logic-first AI. In partnership with Wada and BeyondTheCode.ai, this hackathon focuses on building with MeTTa, the language powering ASI Chain’s cognitive architecture.

Participants will:

  • Learn to code in MeTTa, the AGI-native language of reasoning and pattern binding

  • Receive mentorship from core contributors of OpenCog and Hyperon

  • Develop logic-based AI agents that can reason over structured data

  • Contribute directly to ASI Chain’s long-term vision of decentralized AGI

This track serves as a technical and educational gateway to the MeTTaCycle, an initiative led by SingularityNET and ASI to train the next generation of AGI-native developers.

Remember: You can join the action from anywhere via our watch parties, just tune in online and be part of the movement!

A Taste of ASI Chain

These integrations are the first taste of what ASI Chain will offer: composable infrastructure built for intelligent, decentralized computation.

As centralized compute becomes bottlenecked and legacy blockchains struggle to support semantic depth, ASI Chain offers a new foundation:

  • A MeTTa Kernel for graph-structured logic and concurrent reasoning

  • Sharded execution across multiple consensus protocols

  • Native support for object capabilities, tokenized access, and AI-first applications

For developers, this means building agents that don’t just automate tasks, but interpret, respond, and evolve. For researchers, it provides a testbed for logic-driven AI with real-world deployment. And for investors, it signals the emergence of a scalable, differentiated infrastructure model aligned with the most ambitious frontier of AI.

What’s Next

In the coming days, we’ll release everything you need to dive in: hack packs for Ocean, uAgents, and MeTTa, quickstart tutorials, judging criteria, prize pool details, and partner resources. If you have some questions about the hackathons in the mean time, please feel free to use our ASI Developer forum

The foundations of agent economies are already being laid. This is your chance to help shape what comes next. Build with us.
