Can anything be outside space and time?
Under the influence of western scientific thought, scientists often assume that nothing can exist in this universe outside of space and time. In addition, there is a thought that nobody can make a claim about anything outside space and time, because it is unknown to every human.
It is easy to debunk these arguments. These arguments are but a rehash of the materialistic models of the universe, paradigms that Charvakas proposed thousands of years before the ancient Greeks even emerged. We are but revisiting arguments of Charvakas posing as modern scientific thought.
Here is the rebuttal - Everything that you hold near and dear is outside space and time.
Numbers are outside space and time
Thoughts are outside space and time
Ego (Ahamkara) is outside space and time
The feeling of existence is outside space and time. This is the hard problem of consciousness. the greatest problem that faces Science today.
The mind (Manasa) is outside space and time. The East clearly demarcates mind and brain, while the West mixes up both as equivalent terms.
Feelings are outside space and time.
Morality, virtue and vice are outside space and time
Love, hate and the sight sins are also outside space and time.
Intelligence is outside space and time
Our memories are outside space and time. Strangely, we have the capacity to drag our memories from the past to the present whenever we want, This is a mini time-travel we revel in.
Our hopes, aspirations, courage, determination, bravery are outside space and time.
Money is merely a paper or number. Its value exists purely in the mind, outside of space and time. Money accumulates value because as a society, we collectively hallucinate about its value.
Prestige is purely created by the mind and outside of space and time.
All of these categories listed above come under the term Qualia. Qualia lies outside space and time. Qualia cannot be studied objectively. This does not mean that it does not exist. We instinctively know that these qualia exist and in fact qualia colors our interpretation of everything that this universe has to offer. Is it not strange that we perceive qualia all the time, those things which cannot be defined by space or time.
To sum up, no living being purely comprehends the outer world for what it absolutely is. We liberally mix up external sensory signals with the qualia created in our minds. We call this mishmash of sensory reality and fakery of our minds as perceived reality. All of us create our own reality inside our heads. All liking and disliking is a creation of the mind. There is no objective truth to any of it.
Realizing this fact is the first step to understanding the subjective universe. Once you understand the subjective universe, you have taken the first step to understanding Zen, Buddhism, Advaita, Vedic thought etc.
