Carve your own Journey #Episode 14

Vaidehi slouched on the sofa, too tired to pull her a glass of water; her fingers curled and formed a fist. The words Kabir had used floated in her mind, and coiled around her neck and tightly squeezed it. Her head spinned and so did the words ruthlessly uttered; the saying was true ‘words are as fatal a gunshot’. His words were prickly like shards of broken glass on a soft velvet carpet. Her shoulders drooped as she witnessed in her mind the feud over again, his teary gaze pierced through Vaidehi. Veronica sensed it, and thrust a warm cup of coffee in her hand and sat alongside her. She had put a fresh lemon face pack and the room gave away the fragrance as if fresh lemons were just peeled.

“What’s the matter, honey,” Veronica passed her fingers through her shoulders.

“Nothing much, Kabir turned up out of nowhere and unfortunately saw me with Akash and thought we were in a sort of relationship,” She sniggered.

“Oh, Kabir, yes he came today he is teaching biology in FYJC and SYJC and he even got registered for a degree in genetics,” She earnestly replied.

“You knew about it,” She let away a gasp, she was left aghast.

“Yes, he told me that he was keen to give you bewilderment to see him in flesh and bones,” She revealed with a click of her tongue.

“Oh, He is really frustrated over that, I really need to talk to him over it but I don’t even have any idea where he lives, and am I slut?” She interrogated as she bit her lip

“No. Who the hell told you that?” She said terrified

“Kabir,” She exhaled as she shrugged her shoulders.

“He is just too possessive, wait did you tell him about your ball night with Ravi,” She skipped a beat.

“Arggh, we don’t talk about that,”

“And... you were dancing and the atmosphere was dim and smoky and you were going to step beyond friendship,” Her eyebrows intertwined.

“Dude, I was drunk that night and I didn’t realise, I just enquired if he could bring in for me, a juice or an aerated drink and that bloody bastard added a date drug in my drink, please we don’t talk about that,” She requested

“Akash saved you that night, you know some boys are literally distrustful but there a few whom  you can trust with all you heart, blood and flesh” Her cheeks were flushed vermillion as she spelt Akash’s name.

“So you mean to say Akash really deserves our trust,” Her eyebrows intertwined together as she while she chuckled.

“Maybe yes, Wait are you hitting on him?” She glanced towards Vaidehi.

“No babes, why would I? I know you like him,” She revealed

“Wait a second, I don’t like him. If he meets me once, I could think about making him my friend,” She quickly denied

“Your feelings are beyond liking and just friendship, don’t try to fool me baby girl, who’s the one that joyously appreciated him for his charming face and sensuous eyes and kind heart,” She raised her eyebrows as she pulled her leg.

“Yes, He looks pretty and seriously he didn’t date any girl till today,” She chuckled.

“He was waiting for you, darling, like your heart was beating for him” She winked.

“Ohh shut up and good night, I need to get up early tomorrow,” She proclaimed. Her face was illuminating with a vivacious smile as she entered her bedroom, flung open the cotton curtains, switched on the night lamp and curled on her bed and drifted off to sleep
