Celebrating International Women's Day across the NDA

Today is International Women’s Day and across the NDA group, we’re committed to building inclusive workplaces for everyone

From our Women’s Development Leadership Programme to diverse recruitment action plans which focus on gender balance, we’re creating an organisation where women are supported, valued, and can succeed at all levels of their career.

Meet some of the women within the NDA who are part of driving our mission forward.

Amy Linehan is part of the General Counsel team at the NDA, serving as the Assistant Company Secretary. She is deeply passionate about inclusion and actively champions flexible working arrangements for mothers, inspiring women around her to confidently pursue their career development.

“With the NDA, I have been able to work a condensed week, juggling the nursery run on the days I work from home, and safeguarding time with my child. It has made my life as a single parent so much easier to manage and for that I will always be truly grateful.”

Kate Bowyer is the NDA group Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Kate brings a wealth of financial and leadership acumen to our mission, having previously worked for The Crown Estate and Muse Places, part of the Morgan Sindall group.

"Leadership is not about a title, but about making a positive impact. As a senior female in the NDA group, I want to influence those around me by leading with authenticity, empathy, and purpose".

Professor Melanie Brownridge serves as the Chief Research and Development Officer at the NDA. She holds a PhD in Chemistry, having studied in both the UK and Germany. Melanie is passionate about encouraging young people to join the nuclear sector and has been a visiting professor at the University of Leeds. She was honoured as ‘Champion of the Year’ by Women in Nuclear in 2020.

“Diversity of thought is crucial in bringing innovation to life and I have always had a passion for women embracing the field of STEM. Within the NDA group, I’m incredibly proud to see how we are ensuring we have female representation at all levels across the organisation and supporting women in their professional growth, which is instrumental in driving change.”

Mia Dawkins joined the 2024 NDA group graduate cohort after earning her Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy from Nottingham. As part of the Talent and Development team within the NDA Human Resources function, she plays a crucial role in supporting the NDA group’s focus on employee skill development and succession planning.

“As a graduate new to the NDA group, seeing women lead and contribute across the organisation has been a huge source of inspiration. It has made me confident that, no matter where my career takes me in the nuclear sector, my voice will be valued, and I will be supported to shape my own path”

Dr Samantha Harris plays a pivotal role in the NDA's relationship with Government and Parliament, as Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs, with a focus on building stakeholder advocacy and support. A scientist by background, Samantha has worked extensively in the public sector to develop high-level expertise across a range of functions and professions including project delivery, HR, communications, and policy.

“A woman's career path doesn't have to be linear. I have a scientific background, but I’ve embraced diverse experiences, which has enabled me to develop new skills and grow in unexpected ways. Always trust your own capabilities; you never know what exciting opportunities might be just around the corner.”

The NDA’s mission is a long-term challenge which means there are so many possibilities and opportunities. If you’re interested in a career with us, visit NDA group Careers - The NDA group to find out more
