The Union Government has sanctioned ₹400 crore for the development of Khurpiya Farm, located in Kichha, Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand, under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. This initiative aims to transform Khurpiya into a smart industrial city, bringing new economic opportunities to the region.
Major Industrial Hub for Uttarakhand
Vinay Shankar Pandey, Secretary of Industries, highlighted that Khurpiya will play a vital role in the state's development. He emphasized that the ₹400 crore investment from the central government will be used to build an industrial infrastructure that will offer both direct and indirect employment opportunities for the youth of Uttarakhand.
Pandey elaborated on the Khurpiya Industrial Farm project, which covers 1,200 acres of land valued at ₹410 crore. The farm will be a part of the Amritsar-Kolkata Corridor, a significant industrial development project. The proposed city will host seven major industries, focusing on sectors such as automobile, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.
Key Benefits and Employment Generation
The establishment of these industries is expected to create employment for 70,000 to 75,000 people. This, according to Pandey, will serve as a milestone in Uttarakhand's development, significantly boosting the local economy.
A Boon for Udham Singh Nagar
Pandey remarked on the state's good fortune in having Khurpiya chosen for this development. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been approved, and all necessary formalities have been completed. He confirmed that the construction work for the smart industrial city will commence soon and is expected to be completed within 2 to 3 years.
Boost to State Revenue
In addition to generating employment, the development of Khurpiya as an industrial hub will also contribute to an increase in state revenue, further aiding Uttarakhand's overall economic growth.
Conclusion
The development of Khurpiya Farm as a smart industrial city is set to bring transformative changes to Uttarakhand’s industrial landscape. With central funding and a clear roadmap, this project promises to enhance employment, attract major industries, and boost state revenue, setting the stage for long-term growth in the region.
