ChatGPT vs. Google - How Search is Changing And What It Means for Your Recruitment Website!

The way we create and consume content is evolving fast. AI like ChatGPT is streamlining content production, but it’s also changing how search works. Businesses must now start to adapt their content and SEO strategies to stay visible in a world where AI-generated answers dominate search results.

If you’ve been in the recruitment game for a while, you’ve seen your fair share of trends come and go, job boards, social media sourcing, LinkedIn automation. But now, AI (especially ChatGPT) is changing everything about how we find and connect with both employers and job seekers.

Some are calling it the Chatbot Revolution. Others? An SEO nightmare. The truth? Recruitment is shifting, and if you don’t adapt, you’re going to get left behind.

ChatGPT vs. Google: A Different Way to Find Answers

For years, SEO has been the game for visibility. Get your website ranking on page one of Google, and you win.

But AI-powered search doesn’t just list websites. It pulls information, summarizes it, and delivers what the user wants without them needing to click anything.

🔹 A candidate might ask: “What’s the best recruitment agency for finance jobs in the UK?”

🔹 An employer might search: “How do I find a recruitment agency that specializes in healthcare?”

In both cases, if your recruitment agency isn’t part of AI’s knowledge base, you’re invisible.

What Can You Do?

  • Start optimizing for AI-driven search: Use structured data, answer key questions on your website, and publish AI-friendly content.
  • Leverage AI tools: Use AI-driven chatbots, candidate matching, and automated outreach to enhance your visibility.
  • Educate your clients: Employers need to understand these shifts too, being the expert recruiter who guides them through it? That makes you indispensable.

The SEO Shake-Up: What You Need to Focus On Now

Traditional SEO rules? Changing fast.

  • Keywords alone won’t save you. AI-driven search values expertise, credibility, and structured content.
  • Content must be built for AI comprehension. Your job posts and recruitment marketing need clear, structured responses that AI can pull from. Think about  FAQ pages.
  • Recruiters must provide value beyond job listings. AI isn’t just showing jobs—it’s answering career questions or answering questions that employers may have, e.g. how do I write a job description for a sales director, CTO, nurse etc. If you provide the best answers, you become the go-to recruiter.

How to Future-Proof Your Recruitment Marketing:

✔ Write for AI, not just people. Answer candidate & employer questions in simple, structured ways.

✔ Own your niche. If you specialize in tech, finance, engineering, sales or healthcare hiring etc., dominate that space with expertise.

✔ Think beyond job ads. AI favors insights and solutions, blog posts, FAQs, and expert content to win online visibility.

Beyond the Algorithm: The Human Element

Let’s get one thing straight: AI isn’t replacing recruiters.

Yes, it’s reshaping how we find employers and job seekers. Yes, it’s automating parts of the process. But at the heart of recruitment is trust and AI can’t build relationships.

That’s where you come in.

  • Employers still need strategic recruitment insights, negotiation support, and market expertise.
  • Candidates still need guidance, career advice, the perfect job match and a real connection.
  • The best recruiters? They’re using AI to scale efficiency but keeping the human touch where it counts. The secret is to find that balance.

Nicole’s Practical Tip for 2025

Here’s my one non-negotiable tip for 2025:

Start creating AI-friendly content today.

  • Answer the questions job seekers & employers are already asking.
  • Use AI tools to create content, website copy, blogs (read over them and add your own voice) and enhance your recruitment workflows, not replace them.
  • Position yourself as the recruiter who understands the future of hiring and is not scared to embrace modern technology.

Because the recruiters who adapt first, they will be the ones who win!

Here’s one of my favorite AI prompts to help you create great custom content:

“In a minute I will ask you to write copy for my business. It will include blog content, LinkedIn posts, website copy and sales emails (add in or take away other options that suit your business). Before I start I want you to truly understand my business and customers.”

Ask me at least 20 questions about my business, customers, audience and anything else you need to do this task to the best of your ability.

I would like all relevant copy to be written with SEO optimization.”

What’s Next?

The way candidates and employers find recruiters is changing, fast. But those who stay ahead, adapt, use their website as a lead generator and embrace AI-powered strategies will be the ones leading the industry in 2025.
