CONCEPTUAL BRIEF From Concept to Classroom: A Brief Introduction to the GAiME Framework for Integrating Generative AI in Education

Conceptual Overview

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is transforming education—but integration efforts often remain fragmented, lacking a unified framework for meaningful, pedagogically sound adoption. The Generative AI Integration Model for Education (GAiME) responds to this gap by offering a structured, competency-aligned model for embedding GenAI across multiple dimensions of teaching and learning.

This conceptual brief offers an overview of GAiME’s five core dimensions and outlines their potential to shape ethical, inclusive, and skill-rich AI-infused learning environments. GAiME bridges international AI competency frameworks with real-world classroom application, offering a roadmap for educators, policymakers, and instructional designers navigating the evolving AI-education landscape.

The Five Dimensions of GAiME

  1. Content Generation and Knowledge Delivery GenAI can accelerate the design of lesson plans, simplify complex concepts, and produce multimodal content tailored to diverse learners. Tools like ChatGPT and Claude AI support customized material generation, enhancing engagement and efficiency.

  2. Personalized Adaptive Learning AI-powered systems adjust in real time to student performance, enabling individualized learning paths. Platforms like Knewton and Khanmigo scaffold progression based on learner data, while promoting metacognitive reflection and autonomy.

  3. Assessment and Feedback Automation With tools like Gradescope and OpenAI’s Codex, educators can automate formative and summative assessment tasks. AI enables faster grading, data-informed feedback, and scalable evaluation while raising important questions of fairness and interpretability.

  4. AI-Driven Creativity and Critical Thinking GenAI fosters student expression through multimodal content creation—from AI-generated art to interactive simulations. Tools like DALL-E and RunwayML support creative problem-solving across STEAM domains.

  5. Educator Augmentation and Professional Development AI supports teachers by automating administrative tasks, enhancing lesson planning, and offering real-time insights. AI coaching platforms, scheduling assistants, and peer-collaboration tools bolster teacher capacity and innovation.

Practical Applications

GAiME is more than a theoretical model—it is a design scaffold that supports:

  • Curriculum Alignment with global standards (UNESCO, ISTE, OECD)

  • Teacher Training and AI Literacy Programs

  • Inclusive Design to bridge equity gaps in digital access and AI fluency

  • Ethical Integration through bias-awareness and responsible AI use

  • Student Competency Development in critical thinking, creativity, and digital citizenship

Educators can use GAiME as a foundation to map existing practices and adopt new AI tools in alignment with both local educational goals and global digital competency frameworks.

Value Proposition

GAiME provides a future-ready framework that ensures AI tools serve—not replace—pedagogical integrity. It offers a structured model for:

  • Competency-based AI integration

  • Balanced human–machine interaction in learning

  • Scalable, ethical, and inclusive GenAI practices

By reframing GenAI as an enhancer of cognition and creativity rather than a shortcut to automation, GAiME calls for strategic, responsible, and imaginative applications of AI in education.
