This and That: Life Does Go On!
On January 1st, I sent out my 10th newsletter. Today, I'm sending number 11.
What happened in between...
As I reviewed that last newsletter, I realize how much of my time has been devoted to caring for someone I dearly love. Of the last 9 months, I spent 7 of those in the US and in Canada. It's been a rollercoaster ride, that's for sure.
I ended January's newsletter with a 'figurative' toast to 2025: "Here’s to 2025—a year where we live from our hearts, fueled by purpose, resilience, and the joy of lifelong learning."
My sister is safely settled in our childhood hometown, with the fulltime care she requires and financially stable. I'm back in NL with my husband, friends and my work. So I think I can say, I accomplished these wishes but not necessarily in the way I had hoped.
Life can be humbling but also surprisingly full of so many things to be grateful for. As summer moves inevitably towards autumn, I'm finding my way back to the path I've been on since starting my company in 2011. With fresh perspectives from the learning curve of the past months, the work I love doing is beginning to take shape once again. Resilience - a key word in the work I do.
Prioritizing what was important for my sister's health was paramount. I didn't have the bandwidth to focus on those things in my life that gave and give me purpose, so she became my purpose. She has needed (and continues to need) an advocate in the medical circus ride she's been on. Luckily my nursing background provides me with the necessary knowledge to be that advocate.
Now it's on to diving into long-saved articles (the list is long), networking, discovering new opportunities and appreciating the connections that have shaped my life these past years: Wize Move Society; Female Wave of Change; Amplifying Empathy using VR. I also have to think about what I can let go of.
My creative writing juices are flowing again. So expect to see more of me here on LinkedIn.
