Special Advisor to the Crisis Communications Network, Rod Cartwright , recently won ‘Independent PR Practitioner of the Year’ at the CIPR’s Excellence Awards.

The judges said Rod demonstrated that he regularly goes above and beyond, and he is the standout winner of the ‘Independent PR Practitioner of the Year’ category for 2025.

Rod is a seasoned senior corporate and crisis communications counsellor to governments and blue-chip organisations. He also champions the independent consultant sector and is educating the next generation of professionals through his academic links and aspirations.

His initiatives include co-founding the Independent Impact 50 Award and launching his well-regarded ‘Risk, Reputation and Resilience’ report, which is proving to be a valuable tool for crisis communicators.

Rod’s next stop was to present at a CIPR regional conference in the UK’s Midlands where he shared his insights from his latest ‘Risk, Reputation and Resilience’ report. Rod is pictured here with Rosie Hamilton , one of our committee members, who also attended the conference.
