CSO 2029, Day 1.

CSO 2029, Day 1.

This is what the first day of my next job will be.

After a few polite handshakes, intros, and small talk, I will be led into a room with a laptop.

I'll be asked to wear an eye-tracking device.

My next eight hours will be my first AI "intake" session.

I will undergo a structured series of questions so the company's AI model can be trained on how I approach strategy—essentially, to create an Ed-bot.

I will answer all kinds of questions (via both voice and typing) while my eye movements are tracked.

  • "Take a look at this creative brief. Tell me how you evaluate it and how it can be improved."
  • "Take a look at this insight. On what criteria would you evaluate its quality?"
  • "Take a look at this media plan. What questions does it raise?"
  • "How would you approach a competitive analysis of _____?"
  • "Watch this video of a team member presenting strategy. What feedback would you give him?"
  • "Write a comms strategy based on this example client brief."
  • "Explain your vision for the strategy team and provide KPIs."

I will be asked—and re-asked—to elaborate on my answers.

My keystrokes and action sequences (e.g., using ChatGPT, Wikipedia, Reddit, Crimson Hexagon, consulting a teammate on something specific, drafting a first version, etc.) will be recorded.

I will spend my first week doing little else besides completing this intake.

In fact, all new employees will go through the process.

The more senior they are, the more questions they will be asked.

When I'm done, Ed-bot will be immediately shared with the entire company.

My experience, expertise, and 'taste' will now be scaled at zero incremental cost.

It will be available on demand for strategic advice, unconstrained by an eight-hour workday or the need to schedule meetings.

My bot will be able to interact with other employee bots.

Teammates will upload their work-in-progress briefs and decks for feedback.

Only the trickiest questions will be 'escalated' for human-Ed interaction.

I will be asked every three months to complete an update to reflect changing trends and competitive activity.

The company will track the usage of my bot by the entire company.

If it falls below a certain threshold, I will be terminated.

Given the two hours of training I've just delivered to my 4o model, I'm inclined to agree with you, with the exception: the questions will be far more interesting, sophisticated, and human.

I really enjoy your posts, Ed. This one is a little terrifying and it feels so real.
