“No Deadline Is Worth Your Daughter’s 10 Minutes”

“No Deadline Is Worth Your Daughter’s 10 Minutes”

💼 Is Work Pressure Worth Losing Yourself? 🧠💔

I remember one evening vividly. Laptop open. 37 unread emails. Two deadlines clashing. I was replying to a Teams message with one hand while my daughter tugged at the other, saying, "Papa, bas 10 minute?"

I looked at her. I looked at my screen. And I froze.

That moment stayed with me — not because of the chaos, but because of the realization that followed:

👉 Are we working so hard to live… or living just to work?

🌀 The Silent Spiral

In today’s world, "being busy" is worn like a badge of honour. Late nights, missed meals, forgotten birthdays — all seen as signs of commitment.

But here's the hidden cost:

  • You hit targets 📊, but miss moments 🎈

  • You chase promotions 🏆, but lose peace 🕊️

  • You respond to every email, but slowly stop responding to yourself 😞

We don’t talk about it enough, but work pressure silently chips away at our well-being. And by the time we notice, the damage has often already begun — physically, emotionally, and personally.

🧭 A Simple Truth We Forget

🔁 Work will never end. ✅ But your peace, your people, and your purpose — they're not infinite.

I’ve seen brilliant colleagues lose their spark. Smiles replaced by stress. Passion drowned in pressure. And I’ve asked myself: Is this the price we pay for performance?

The answer is no — it shouldn't be.

🔄 What Changed for Me?

I didn’t quit. I didn’t stop striving. But I started choosing balance over burnout.

  • I began saying "No" when needed.

  • I blocked personal time on my calendar — like it was a meeting with myself.

  • I replaced guilt with grace — reminding myself that rest is not laziness; it’s a reset.

And most importantly, I started speaking about it. Because if we stay silent, the system won’t change.

❤️ A Note to You, Reading This

If you're juggling too much, constantly anxious, or feeling stretched thin…

🫂 Pause. 📵 Log off. 🧘‍♂️ Breathe.

Ask yourself: Is this pressure helping me grow — or is it shrinking who I am?

You are not a resource. You're a human being — deserving of joy, calm, and connection beyond deadlines.

Let’s redefine what success means. Let’s normalize well-being over workaholism. Because no achievement is worth losing yourself.
