Debunking Politics – It’s all about stunt, emotion and accusation!!!
Before into the Topics
Remember the candidate who you voted for or you wanted to vote, whom you respect the most, see him/her as the courageous, honest and wise among all. Whoever the leader (Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln, BP Koirala etc.) you favor and whatever the character (saint, charming, cunning etc.) the leader possesses, they all deal/dealt with three things to gain power; be in position; and deliver warmth as perceived by the public. The three things are – stunt, emotion, and accusation.
Now Let's Debunk
Every factor - stunt, emotion and accusation, has multiple ways to deal with but let's discuss the basics only here.
- Stunt: Agitation, rallies, hunger strike etc. all are stunts demonstrated by the political leaders. But we should also understand that all stunts should not be perceived as violent, some are silent too. Mao demonstrated violent stunt while Mahatma Gandhi demonstrated silent protest.
- Emotion: Every political leader plays with our emotions – some play in a wrong way and some for the betterment of the community but all they claim is for the betterment of the public. If you have noticed, some leaders like Donald Trump played with ultra-nationalism, religion, caste, ethnicity etc. that are deeply connected with people’s belief. It is easy for them to cast a vote but ultimately it fails. On the other side, the good leaders have an agenda of research, development, and unity.
- Accusation: Accusation is a major part of politics whether it be direct or indirect. Democrats accuse the communists of being dictators, limiting people’s basic rights, and having animalistic behavior. On the other side, communities have their accusations too. When describing on an individual level, some accusations do good, bad, or undecidable. Nelson Mandela’s accusation for democracy in South Africa proved to be right. There are examples for bad or undecidable too. If you just think for some time, you will get ample examples.
Now feel free to roam your head around to identify actions politicians do, relate with these three factors, and conclude if the article is properly articulated. Recommend and have your views if you like.
Some More …
All voters do not think/behave in the same way due to the ideology they follow, environment they live, aspirations they hold, etc. I believe there are 3 levels of voters:
- Hardcore voters: Who are the blind supporters of political parties and leaders.
- Critical voters: Who follow the ideology of political parties but are critical towards what the leader does.
- Independent voters: who decides to support based on the type of candidate and the agendas they hold.
But anyway, all voters fall into the trap of stunt, emotion and accusation. They ultimately wait to see the change they wanted. Some aspirations are fulfilled and some aspirations evolve as frustrations. This way the leadership changes but these three factors remain the same.
