DISA Citadel receives cross-domain solution authorization, extends software transfer capability to customers
By Will Mohseni, DISA Program Executive Office Services
For years, the ability to securely transfer data between unclassified and classified has been a challenge, often requiring cumbersome “sneaker-net” processes like manual CD burning. However, with the approval to utilize a cross-domain solution, a faster process is now available to improve collaboration and enhance operational effectiveness. This process will significantly benefit Defense Information Systems Agency DevSecOps users operating in complex and dynamic environments.
The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cross-Domain Solution, integrated within DISA Citadel, offers a secure mechanism for transferring data between the unclassified (IL5) and classified (IL6) software factory. This means that Warfighters, analysts and decision-makers can now access the right information at the right time, leading to improved situational awareness and faster response times.
DISA Program Executive Office Services’ DevSecOps program offers more than just a cross-domain solution. It offers a comprehensive suite of tools and services designed to empower users with a secure and agile development environment.
What truly sets the program apart is its right-size fit for all potential users. Whether it’s a small team developing a niche application or a large program deploying a complex system, DISA DevSecOps capabilities offer scalable and customizable solutions.
The approval of AWS CDS represents a monumental achievement for DISA. It signifies a commitment to innovation, security and efficiency in the modern digital landscape.

1moThis is very interesting and I am excited to learn more. If anyone has ever had to deal with CDS or the DTA process, it can be either very expensive or burdensome process for both users and IT folks.

1moIt looks like this applies only to AWS IL5 and IL6. All other CSP environments will have to go through a similar approval process, right?
