Do you believe in magic? In the impossible (or at least the improbable)?
A few years ago, I wrote a post that I am now revisiting, as I've just read some fantastic news on LinkedIn.
Victor Castaneda, The Mind Reader, is hosting a live show in Mexico City, and you won't want to miss it.

Now back to the post...
As I mentioned, it was a few years ago when I joined an online event that stunned me, not just because it felt like being in a real, live show (something I had missed for 18 months due to Covid), but because of how meticulously every detail was crafted.
From top-tier production to the magnetic host, mind reader Victor Castaneda, to impeccable customer care, the experience was flawless from start to finish.
I won't share any details of the online show or any of the great acts I've seen him perform throughout his career, but you can see some of it on Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Instead, what I want to highlight is the consumer experience, which will also be outstanding, seeing him live!
The Mind Reader: A magical experience from beginning to end.
Having worked in the service industry and with Customer Service teams, I know the impact that good service can have on a consumer's journey and on a business overall. In this case, to make it succinct, I will break down the event into 5 key points that will demonstrate why it was so impactful to me.
1. Seamless Pre‑Event Experience
Website: His site was clean, engaging, and invited curiosity, with enough information to intrigue, and clear ticketing steps.
Customer support: We live outside Mexico and needed our "mystery box" fast. They didn't blink, sent it next day, handled logistics, even provided a direct WhatsApp line. That kind of responsiveness is rare.
2. The mystery box
The packaging was elegant, mysterious, and although I was very tempted to peek, I waited (worth it!). Every item inside felt premium and purposeful. It set the tone before the show even began.
3. Flawless technical execution
Over 30 devices connected, scattered globally. No hiccups (crisp video, clear sound, smooth transitions). That's high-grade engineering and a fantastic team behind the scenes.
4. Victor Castaneda's mastery
His charisma, clarity, and presence carried us on an emotional rollercoaster of astonishment. His movement, tone, and pacing helped every trick to become a shared moment and a great memory. We laughed, we gasped, we believed.
5. Thoughtful post‑show closure
We received a personal thank-you note from Victor, along with a link to his book (I loved it and highly recommend it).
What started with a clean website ended with a warm gesture, completing the loop.
A lesson for every business
You don't need an extremely high‑budget production to exceed expectations. You need thoughtfulness, execution, and follow‑through.
Whether you're in events, retail, restaurant, or manufacturing, these fundamentals apply.
Sadly, many have drifted away from this back-to-basics approach, focusing on things that may look good but don't add any value to the consumer experience (in some cases, even impacting negatively).
And it's not really magic...
It's all bout the power of planning deliberately, executing flawlessly, and closing thoughtfully, making it a magical experience that has me talking about it years later and again recommending that everyone not miss the live show in November.
My dear friend, thank you so much for your kind words and article. It has truly been one of the highlights of my year so far.. thank you so much for this. Wishing you all the best always to you and your beautiful family 🙏🏻🙌🏻
