Does awareness result in honest appreciation?

A few weeks ago I was waiting at Frankfurt airport for my flight to Vancouver. I try to be there at least once a year to find out what is important for the markets they serve and to talk about new products and ideas. The flight was delayed, first it was 30 minutes, then an hour and it was getting longer. There was an announcement that it would take even longer, the crew which should clean the plane is not yet ready. Displeasure spreads, "they should hurry up". At this moment, it becomes clear to me once again that everyone is needed, regardless of the hierarchical level at which they work. Without a clean airplane, even the pilots with the cool glasses can't take off. I hope that the others have also become aware that everyone has a part to play in making society and the economy function. At some point we were able to take off. There is no one who is unimportant, I hope the employees in the service are well paid for it.

Every now and then I help a friend for a few days on his farm. Farming, if it is sustainable, ethical and "organic", means a huge effort, no fixed closing time and little appreciation. The main thing for most consumers: It's cheap and always available. After a few days of work there, one becomes much more aware of how much work goes into a liter of milk or a piece of meat, and that everyone counts here too.

So, whether cleaning staff on the plane, the ops team at sharing providers, the farmer, the agents in the call center: Without you nothing works, I hope you are well paid and your work is honestly appreciated. And there are certainly always moments in which it is possible in everyday life to show it.
