DoHS Bureau for Family Assistance Celebrates Early Childhood Leadership Success
The West Virginia Department of Human Services’ Bureau for Family Assistance, Division of Early Care and Education (ECE) recently marked a milestone in advancing early childhood leadership. Seventeen members of the Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) Professional Development Team gathered at Connect CCR&R in Charleston for the Business Administration Scale (BAS) Reliability Training.
Led by experts Paula Steffen and Izzy Landa from the McCormick Center for Early Childhood Leadership, the training provided participants with vital skills to strengthen business practices in family child care settings.
All 17 participants successfully passed the BAS reliability testing, demonstrating their expertise in applying this important tool to support family child care providers. Many are now on the path to becoming Certified BAS Assessors.
The BAS assesses and improves business and professional practices across ten essential areas such as Fiscal Management, Provider-Family Communication, and Marketing. When paired with the Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale, it delivers a comprehensive measure of quality in family child care programs.
Congratulations to the ECE team for their dedication and commitment to enhancing early childhood education in West Virginia!
