Don’t Fake it. Build it .

As someone who has been building software from 0 to 1 for over 25 years, I’ve seen how tempting it can be to follow the "fake it till you make it" advice, especially when you're just starting out. But let me tell you—this approach is risky, especially when you're building your MVP (Minimum Viable Product).

Many founders think that all they need is a flashy landing page or some buzzwords to attract attention. But the truth is, pretending your product is more than it is can lead to broken trust, disappointed users, and ultimately, failure. Over-promising and under-delivering is not a sustainable strategy.

Here's the thing: You don't need a huge budget to build an MVP that actually works. What you need is a realistic plan, a focus on what really matters to your customers, and a commitment to transparency.

🔍 WHY HONESTY MATTERS IN BUILDING AN MVP:

  1. TRUST IS EVERYTHING: If you're upfront about what your product can do (and what it can't do yet), people will appreciate your honesty. Building trust with your users is more valuable than any short-term hype.

  2. START SIMPLE, BUT STRONG: Your MVP doesn't need to be perfect, but it needs to solve a real problem. Forget about making it look fancy if it doesn’t have solid foundations. Keep it functional, focused, and easy to use.

  3. REALISTIC COSTS LEAD TO BETTER RESULTS: I’ve seen founders burn through cash trying to build something "perfect" right from the start. It’s possible to build a strong MVP without overextending your budget—but it requires understanding what’s really essential and skipping the unnecessary extras.

So here’s my advice: Don’t fake it. Build it. There’s nothing wrong with starting small, as long as you’re building something real. Focus on delivering value from day one, and you’ll be surprised how much further you’ll go in the long run.

Let’s start a conversation. If you’re working on an MVP and want to keep it real, I’m here to help you make it happen—without the smoke and mirrors.
