Don’t forget the fire

Don’t forget the fire

It’s always an emotional experience to separate from any organization to which you gave your heart and soul for a very long time. A place where you earned your livelihood, comfort for your family, EMIs for your dream car, down payment for your dream home, that dream vacation in Europe and lots of good and bad memories over a couple of years.

It’s terribly tough decision, to choose when at one hand you have your old colleagues, your comfort zone, your day-to-day routine, your contacts, your influence, your pet project and at the other hand excitement of doing something new, being some place else, making new colleagues, forming new routine, breaking out of your comfort zone, taking your career to a new high.

But ‘the way’ to get a chance to make this decision is not easy for all of us. Some will get there the moment they think of it but some need hell lot of time and preparation to come to a position to make this decision. And by the time finally, star align themselves and your hard work pays off, the decision is already made! This is the day you put in so much efforts for, sacrificed all your personal life after work hours and over the weekend for, in learning something completely new, the technology you had no idea about.

And that’s when, you start feeling good about yourself again, you realize that ‘you still got it.’ You feel that fire which has been there ‘somewhere’, in a forgotten corner of your heart.

It’s strange though to see how eager we are, to put that fire away in ourselves, to forget about it. Once we settle in somewhere, we start loving our comfort zone so much that we don’t want anything to change, so much so that we forget the universal truth about life. “Change is the only thing constant in life.” Either you make it deliberately or it will happen to you inevitably. So here am I, ‘trying to’ take control of changes happening in my life. This way, at least I get a chance to plan and be ready for it.
