EBRD Green Monthly

Despite the heat, this month was full of big investments across our regions - from financing the expansion of landmark wind farm in Romania, to EBRD-led consortium investing in a €1.2 billion investment programme for renewables and battery systems across Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and North Macedonia.

In the 9th edition of EBRD Green, we’ll tell you about:

  • Impact: projects tackling water scarcity and supporting biodiversity
  • Big deals: renewables in central and eastern Europe
  • Top voices: Our insights in top global media

In focus: EBRD extreme heat resilience summit

According to the EU climate monitor, 12 countries and 790 million people experienced their hottest June ever. Our regions are experiencing severe hazards – heatwaves, floods, droughts and wildfires. With adaptation a key part of our work, we're:

  • Identifying climate-related risks that will affect our countries
  • Developing strategies to facilitate climate adaptation
  • Investing in technologies to improve climate resilience

Recently, with UNDRR, we hosted a summit for action on global extreme heat resilience, bringing together key stakeholders from industry, finance, government and civil society.
