💡Industry Dynamics
🌟Raspberry Pi 45W USB-C Power Supply on sale now at $15
Raspberry Pi has launched a new 45W USB-C Power Supply priced at $15, designed to power both Raspberry Pi devices and charge laptops. This new 45W power supply offers greater versatility compared to the $12 27W version, making it an ideal solution for powering Raspberry Pi boards and charging laptops.
The new power supply features improved electronics, a longer cable (1.5m), and new operating modes, including 20V, 2.25A, making it versatile for a range of USB devices. Raspberry Pi users will benefit from the same reliable power output—5.1V, 3A for Raspberry Pi 4 and 5.1V, 5A for Raspberry Pi 5—while other devices can leverage enhanced power delivery.
🌟Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector on sale now at $25
Raspberry Pi has launched the Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector, priced at $25, to add PoE support to existing networks. This device is ideal for powering Raspberry Pi projects in remote locations where access to power is challenging.
The Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector, compatible with 100V-240V mains voltages, supports IEEE 802.3af (13W) and IEEE 802.3at (25W) standards and works with Raspberry Pi SBCs and other PoE devices. Users must provide their own IEC mains lead, available from Approved Resellers. Additionally, the Raspberry Pi PoE+ HAT+ for Raspberry Pi 5, under development in collaboration with Microchip, promises to be the smallest and most efficient PD accessory yet, enhancing PoE capabilities further.
🌟Introducing rpi-image-gen: build highly customised Raspberry Pi software images
Raspberry Pi has introduced rpi-image-gen, a new tool designed to give developers complete control over custom software images for Raspberry Pi devices. This tool is ideal for embedded systems, industrial controllers, or any scenario requiring specific software configurations.
rpi-image-gen uses profiles, image layouts, and config files to define and build images. Profiles group Debian packages and installation operations, while image layouts describe how the final image will be structured on the device. The config file, written in .ini syntax, specifies these settings, allowing users to tailor the image to their hardware and functional requirements.✨
The tool includes examples like slim (a lightweight image with minimal packages) and webkiosk (an image that boots directly into a browser in kiosk mode). These examples demonstrate how to create tailored images for specific purposes.
