Egg-citing times for Retrofit.
Hoppy Easter, folks! We wish y'all an egg-cellent time filled with relaxation and chocolate-induced bliss. After all the hustle and bustle in the retrofit world, it's time to kick back, enjoy those delightful chocolate eggs, and revel in the joy and knowledge that lie ahead. So, let's hop to it and indulge in some well-deserved feasting!
It's time to catch up on what RetrofitWorks has been doing lately. A big congratulations to Your Home Better for their incredible work in recent months. Hellena Mason has written and shared an excellent article.
“Your Home Better is working in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Feel the Benefit campaign. The focus of this new campaign is to help residents across the Greater Manchester region to access support and advice about making their homes more energy efficient, and where the resident is financially eligible, grant supported retrofit measures. YHB is covering Salford, Stockport and Trafford.
The goal is to make a difference for residents: a reduction in their energy bills, make their homes warmer and more comfortable to live in, as well as greener.
The Campaign is key to Greater Manchester’s drive to become carbon neutral by 2038, which is 12 years ahead of the Government’s target of 2050 for the rest of the UK.
The coverage of the qualifying factors is wide. Feel The Benefit is recommended to all homeowners or private tenants who suffer from damp, mould, drafts or feel that when they heat their home, they don’t feel that their home is warm. If you qualify for grant funded works, one of our installers local to your area will get in touch to discuss the improvements which they can carry out for you in conjunction with YHB.
Our Community Engagement team has been running events since December. We’ve been doing roughly three events over a week, which have included Food Waste Reduction events (The Bread and Butter Thing), health and family days, cooking classes – even exercise classes! We’ve also bought an engagement vehicle, which will be branded up and ready to take on the road in early May. The vehicle will be fitted with a Heat Pump and Solar Panels to show the residents of Greater Manchester all the different ways they can improve their home.

Futurebuild Event
The Retrofit Academy CIC partnered with Futurebuild to launch the first National Retrofit Conference 2024 held earlier this month. The conference aims to share best practice and give practical solutions that accelerate progress toward a greener and more sustainable future; it was a tremendous success. Witnessing numerous passionate individuals come together in one place to share ideas, engage in discussions, and collaborate on retrofitting for a better future was truly inspiring. Russell Smith once again delivered an exceptional speech. We were thrilled to attend the event and we all look forward to empowering retrofitting to drive progress and move the world forward collectively.
You may have heard some talk about a retrofit revolution. But is your business ready?
SME Growth & Skills Programme – Retrofit Ready
RetrofitWorks is building a new programme Retrofit Ready, to support the growth and upskilling of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that deliver energy efficiency and retrofit services. The aim is to enable contractors, practitioners, and installers, through tailored support by building capacities, confidence, and practical skills to deliver high-quality whole-house retrofit services and installations.
If you are keen to grow your business and upskill yourself or your team to meet the upcoming increased demand for retrofit, please complete our Growth, Impact & Skills Survey. This will help us understand your immediate business needs and training requirements.
Your participation will inform how we design a practical support package that can de-risk SMEs' upskilling, growth, and expansion to address the supply chain constraints of delivering domestic retrofit services and installations in the private homeowner-funded 'able-to-pay' market.
We are keen to hear about your experiences and insights on the challenges facing your business in delivering any type of project in the energy efficiency and retrofit market, particularly around qualifications, skills, business models, and the operational sustainability of your business.
