Episode 1: The Pilot - To Be or Not to Be?

Episode 1: The Pilot - To Be or Not to Be?

Welcome to Musings of a Mischievous Mind, where questions like this set the stage for a journey into the random, the reflective, and the ridiculous. My name is Vishrut, and this is my playground for ideas—a place to explore thoughts without boundaries or filters.

At 25, with three years as a marketing executive behind me, I’ve spent plenty of time crafting polished messages and calculated strategies. But here? Here, I’m letting the mischievous side of my mind run wild.

Why am I writing this? Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe it’s a search for clarity, a need to connect, or just a way to let off some steam. Whatever it is, I hope to create something meaningful—or at least entertaining.

A small disclaimer: The following thoughts will be posted without explanation for your interpretation.

Here’s the deal: the thoughts I share won’t come with explanations. Think of them as little puzzles or sparks of curiosity, left for you to interpret in your own way. Will they inspire? Challenge? Confuse? Who knows? That’s the fun of it. Now, here’s the part that worries me: I feel like a bit of a hypocrite writing this. Why? Because I’ve never been an avid reader. (Let’s be honest, the only books I’ve devoured are menus) And yet, here I am, asking you to read something I’ve written. The irony isn’t lost on me, but hey, if nothing else, consider this my humble attempt to bridge the gap between “occasional reader” and “reluctant writer.”

Speaking of irony, let’s address the elephant in the room—  Shakespeare’s immortal words, "To be or not to be," were a question of existence. Mine? A question of persistence. After all, if Shakespeare were alive today, he’d probably write, “To post or not to post: that is the question.” But hey, at least I’m not trying to write fancy poetry. (No offense to the literature geeks) Can you imagine how messy that would get? Actually, scratch that—it might be fun. Perhaps one day, I’ll pen a sonnet titled “Ode to Procrastination.”

Alright, this seems to be a fair introduction to what’s in store. Your guess is as good as mine—I don’t know where to start! Which brings me to the question: what should I write for the pilot episode?

Hold on, there’s a ring at the door. I might have just ordered a round of impulsiveness from #Blinkit. (No, they’re not sponsoring—but they could, right? Sorry, losing focus again.)

So, after much deliberation, I’ve decided the topic I’m going to tackle is getting a start—because, let’s face it, it’s probably the most universal and confusing part of any new endeavour.

Toh Shuru Karein?

If you’ve ever stood at the crossroads of “What should I do?” and “Why did I even start this?”—welcome to my life right now. Picking the first topic for this felt like choosing a restaurant with friends. Everyone wants something different, no one can decide, and you end up ordering pizza (No more Farmhouse please) because it’s the easiest option. But what happens when even pizza isn’t on the menu?

The thing about starting is that it’s hard. There’s this invisible pressure to make the “right” choice, as if the first step will define the entire journey. Spoiler: it won’t. Life is more like a messy buffet than a five-course meal. You can always go back for seconds, or in my case, change the topic entirely.

So, where do I start? Here’s my totally foolproof, highly scientific process:

Article content

  • Overthinking. (A classic move.) I’ve spent days wondering if the first topic should be profound, funny, or deeply personal. But every time I try to choose, my brain offers helpful ideas like “How do socks randomly disappear in the laundry?” or “Why does the phone battery die faster when I need it most?”
  • Avoidance. (A pro-level skill.) This is where I convince myself that binge-watching a new series is “research” or that reorganizing my desk will somehow unlock creative genius. Spoiler: It never does.
  • Acceptance. I eventually realize that the first step doesn’t need to be perfect; it just needs to happen. It’s not about finding the “best” topic—it’s about starting the conversation.

Which brings me here: writing about starting. Writing about how confusing, messy, and hilariously human it is to figure out where to begin. Because honestly, isn’t that the hardest part of anything? Starting.

So, here’s my advice—both to myself and to you (if you’re reading this and thinking of starting something too): Don’t wait for the perfect idea, moment, or plan. Just take a step. Even if it’s a small one. Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s about the sock disappearing

At least you’ll be moving, and sometimes, that’s all that matters.

Final Thoughts

I plan to bring more random musings to you—weekly, monthly, every 15 days, or maybe even tomorrow. That’s the beauty of this space—there’s no set timeline (translation: I haven’t really decided yet).

But one thing’s for sure: we’re about to embark on an adventure of a lifetime—unlike me, who couldn’t get tickets to Coldplay. But hey, as they sing, lights will guide me home… or at least to my next blog post.

Before I bid you adieu, let me share a little calendar chaos with you. These two calendars I received with my brownie order? They’re a cheeky list of long weekends employees can take. Let’s just say they’ve got me dreaming of trips I’ll probably never take—but hey, a little wishful thinking never hurt anyone, right?

And remember, folks: life’s like a brownie—sometimes a little crumbly, but always worth the bite.

Until Next Time, Goodbye!

P.S: This is my first attempt at writing—let’s see if I’ve sparked anything in your mind. I’m all ears for your thoughts and ready to learn!
