Everything that shines in the light will cast a shadow
In October 2018, I found myself in a hall filled with the echoes of dedication and valor, surrounded by my esteemed colleagues from the Indian Air Force in the Chief's house. Among these endeavours, my colleagues (Sqn Ldr Deepak Verma , Flt Lt Dina Ravindran, Flt Lt Tania Dutta) and I had the opportunity to present the impact the “Automation Cell” had created on the organization. We were about to showcase our collective achievements to the Chief of Air Staff and the Defence Minister, Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman. It was a moment of pride, yet a bittersweet one.
As we shared our story, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the heart of our team—the air warriors who tirelessly worked behind the scenes—was absent from the spotlight. Their contributions, though vital, went unnoticed, to an extent. This realization stirred something deep within me, prompting me to express this sentiment through poetry.
I penned a piece from the perspective of a flower pot, a metaphor for those who nurture yet remain in the shadows. This poem became my voice, a tribute to the unsung heroes who embody resilience and dedication.
Today, I share this poem not just as a creative endeavor but as a heartfelt reminder: every role matters, and every effort counts.
