What Role is AI Playing in Architecture?

AI Design Competition: Meditation Sanctuary

As part of our ongoing commitment to innovation, SSH launched an in-house AI Design Competition that challenged teams to explore the creative potential of AI-driven tools and techniques in bold, imaginative ways.

The latest edition of the competition, themed ‘Meditation Sanctuary’, invited participants to reimagine spaces of quiet reflection by leveraging AI to inspire conceptual and visual outcomes. The design brief called for concepts that incorporate indoor and outdoor meditation areas, simple private accommodations, communal gathering spaces, and a thoughtful use of local materials and passive design strategies.

This semi-buried, elliptical retreat blends minimalist architecture with the raw power of the landscape – its ring-like form partially cantilevering over a vast valley below. Carved from stone-textured concrete and clad in subtly reflective surfaces, the structure disappears into its surroundings, capturing shifting skies and cascading light. A large waterfall spills from the mountain’s upper slopes, feeding a silent circular pool at the heart of the open-air courtyard. Here, visitors sit or walk in quiet meditation, grounded by earth, sky, and water. This is a place where architecture dissolves into geology, and time moves with the rhythm of breath and silence.
